Mass of Christian Burial for Monte J. Geerts, age 37, of Mott, ND will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Regent, ND. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Fr. Dennis Schafer will officiate with burial following at Regent Cemetery.
MONTE JOSEPEH GEERTS was born to Paul and Darlene (Propes) Geerts on February 6, 1979 in Vicenzia, Italy, where his family was stationed at Camp Ederle. With his father being in the military, the family was transferred numerous times, before Monte and his mother finally settled in Arizona, in 1982. He attended Conner Middle School and Chandler High School.
As a child, Monte was prone to accidents, falling through or breaking many a window, but never seeming to be much worse the wear because of it. He took an interest in video games, was quite a computer tech and enjoyed skateboarding. He had a soft spot in his heart for animals, and had pet dogs, cats, lizards, and an iguana throughout his lifetime. He also like dragons, and had a wide collection of them. Monte loved coming to North Dakota and spending time with his Grandma and Grandpa Geerts’ on their farm in Regent.
Perhaps Monte will be mostly remembered for being someone who wore his heart on his sleeve, and being the person who would do anything for anyone. If you asked, he was there. If he was your friend, he was a friend for life.
Monte passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 26, 2016
Monte will be missed and fondly remembered by his mother, Darlene Geerts and fiancé Bob Tuhy, Dunn Center, ND; father, Paul (Jan) Geerts, CO; siblings, Stephanie Geerts, Florence, AZ; Matthew (Heather) Geerts, CO; Paul (Ashley) Geerts, Jr., Regent, ND; Christina N. Geerts, Regent, ND; nieces, Kailee, Mackenzie, Maddison, Cheyanne, Elaina, and Sydney Geerts; great- niece, Albina Geerts; grandfather, Frederick Geerts, Regent, ND; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Albina Geerts.
