Gratiot- Carl F. Gille, age 87, of Gratiot, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, February 22, 1997, at Lafayette County Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 13, 1909, in Gratiot Township, Wisconsin, the son of Henry and Anna (Glaser) Gille. He was married to the former Berniece A. Seffrood on August 30, 1933, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Gratiot. They farmed in the Gratiot area until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Gratiot; and a former member of the Gratiot Township Board and the Cemetery Board.

Survivors include his wife, Berniece, at home; nine children, Joyce A. (Gerald) Paulson, Gratiot, C. Vernon (Eleanor) Gille, Gratiot, Donald L. Gille, Shullsburg, Gertrude "Erlene" (Bernard) McKenna, Monroe, Kenneth E. (Janice) Gille, New London, David F. Gille, Arizona, Darrell B. (Carol) Gille, Argyle, Judy (Wayne) Mau, Edgerton, and Nola Jean (Terry) Haldiman, South Wayne; his daughter in law, Patsy Gille, South Wayne; 33 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; a sister, Louella Karis, Freeport; and a brother, Robert (Helen) Gille, Monroe. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Randall E. Gille; four sisters, Leona M. Stietz, Mary Wand, Gertrude Winslow, and Florence Knudson; two brothers, Edward and Roy Gille; a great granddaughter; and a great great grandson.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, February 26, 1997, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Gratiot, with Father Jerold F. Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 until 9 pm on Tuesday, February 25, 1997, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Gratiot, where a rosary service will be held at 8 pm. Friends may also call after 9:30 am on Wednesday at the church. The Steil Camacho Funeral Home, Darlington, is serving the family.
