Bartholomew was the son of Claude Somers (1740 Scotland-1818 VT) & Agnes Somers (1744 Scotland-1824 VT). His siblings were: Claud c1757, Marion, Jeanette, Hugh a1780), John, William & Robert. He married Jean Morrison and they had eleven known children: Thomas G a1808, Nancy, James Selkirk, Robert Dunning, Claudius Buchanan, Bartholomew Galbraith, William, Jennet, John S., Margaret, and David H. Somers a1835, all born in Vermont.
