Located 30 minutes from the TGV stations of Le Creusot and that of Mâcon-Loché, 20 minutes from the A6 motorway and the A79 (RCEA), 10 minutes from Cormatin castle and 20 minutes from Cluny abbey, Saint-Gengoux-le-National in south Burgundy forms the link between the Chalonnaise wine coast and the Mâconnaise wine coast. La Cave des vignerons offers quality wines: Montrachet, Macon Blanc, Macon Rouge, etc. The City is located at the junction of a road to Compostela and the road to Assisi.
At the crossroads of two Roman roads, Saint-Gengoux was given to the monks of Cluny Abbey in the 10th century and became a "deanery" of the abbey (responsible for supplying the abbey and its monks).
In the 12th century, a treaty of "pariage" (sharing) between King Louis VII and the Abbot of Cluny, granted the protection of the King of France to Cluny in exchange for the sharing of Saint-Gengoux. King Louis IX later confirmed this protection. The city then became Saint-Gengoux-le-Royal, with the construction of fortifications, men-at-arms, fair rights, etc. The city develops and becomes the economic center of the living area.
Becoming Saint-Gengoux-le-National after the revolutionary period, the City is today a village combining heritage, economic activity, social life and tourism.
The ancient heritage is valued and preserved, with the remains of the fortifications, the keep of the old castle, the towers on the outskirts, the implivium washhouse, the cobbled streets, the very emblematic church with the belfry and its bridge connecting it to the bell tower, etc.
Nearly 100 traders, artisans and independents, 20 health professionals, establishments ranging from early childhood to middle school inclusive, 36 very active associations, numerous cultural, sporting and festive events during the year, make this town is a good place to live and stay.
Saint-Gengoux is renowned for its cellar and its Mâconnais and Chalonnais wines.

But between his producer's scheming, uncontrollable actors and edgy technicians, he is quickly overwhelmed by events. Abandoned by his backers, Simon has to face a social conflict with his own crew. His only ally in this hellish shoot is the young extra he has entrusted with the Making of. - Our verdict : Very well acted, with a script that doesn't lapse into pathos or docu-drama.
