From Amsterdam: Day trip to Brussels & Atomium

7. From Amsterdam: Day trip to Brussels & Atomium

Discover the most important parts of Brussels in just one day on this guided tour. Get picked up in Amsterdam early in the morning and head towards the quintessential European economic capital. Before delving into the heart of the city, make a stop at one of its iconic symbols: the Atomium. Did you know it's an enlarged iron atom 165 billion times? Just as many times as you'll want to return to Brussels after this excursion! By the way, are you familiar with Tintin? Welcome to his home! Walking through the city is like enjoying an open-air museum with several murals dedicated to this famous character. And speaking of children... Do you know the story of the little peeing boy? We're clearly talking about Manneken Pis! Far from what you may interpret by seeing him urinate in a fountain, it represents the free spirit of the inhabitants of the Belgian capital. He even has a wardrobe... see how he's dressed that day. Witness the incredible Grand Place, worthy of its name, and the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula, the city's most valuable temple. Learn about what mysteries the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament holds. Also, pass by its most representative buildings: the Brussels Stock Exchange and the Royal Galleries, which showcase the city's power. These two 19th-century buildings, despite serving different purposes, will leave you speechless. There will be many more surprises, however, you'll also have free time to enjoy some moments on your own, getting lost in its streets. Your guide will recommend a few places for you to have that long-awaited beer, taste their famous chocolate, enjoy their traditional French fries, or indulge in a delicious Belgian waffle. In the end, return to the bus to head back to Amsterdam with a new destination in your backpack, a few anecdotes, and most likely, a full belly.

There was a museum that recounted the history of the atomium being built, how it was built, the World Fair it hosted; what it stood for; how it was mean to be - and became - a heritage of Belgium. There was also a lights and sound exhibition.

The excursion was very very beautiful!!! We had great fun!! I highly recommend it!! Our guide who was called Carlos (Khorkhe) was very good!!

The exhibition with the light show was really nice to see. The observation deck alone is worth a visit.

Great views, a good variety of things to do, so overall an amazing place to visit.
