Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency – Douglas Adams

Douglas Adams is best known for The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, but frankly Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency should be remembered just as fondly.

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency started life as a Doctor Who script, for the unreleased 4th doctor story Shada. When the episode was shelved, Adams took a lot of the ideas from the episode and worked them together with a new character, weaving something that vaguely resembles the basic outline of a Doctor Who story, but twisted up in knots and turned into something that is in turns sinister and hilarious.
