Prof. Eric Eeckhout

Eric Eeckhout graduated in medecine from Brussels Medical School in 1984.  After his basic training in general cardiology and in particular in interventional cardiology, he started a fellowship at the University Hospital CHUV in 1991.  He basically never returned back to Belgium and became the head of interventional cardiology in 1999.  In 1998, he initiated the ECC congres in Lausanne.  A meeting dedicated to complications during percutaneous cardiovascular medecine.  From 2001, this has become a joint Mayo Clinic-CHUV meeting.  The ECC congress in June 2019 will be in its 13th edition.  In the early 2000s, Eric Eeckhout got involved in both the annual ESC congress and the Euro-PCR meeting.  For 8 years, he was a member of the annual ESC congress program committee in which he led the interventional part for 6 years.  Eric Eeckhout was also a member of the board of Euro PCR until 2012 and responsible for the complications sessions at this congress.  In 2010, he co-initiated the first PCR meeting outside of Europe in Singapore (Asia-PCR) together with the team of Prof. Koh from the National Heart Center : ASIA-PCR.

Eric Eeckhout is at the base of the the textbook of interventional cardiology of EAPCI-PCR that was first published in 2012.  He is also member of the editorial board of several cardiology journals.

His clinical interest covers the large field of interventional cardiology from coronary to valve and structural interventions.

Since many years, Eric Eeckhout and his team have welcomed fellows from Hong Kong and a real tradition is now well established.  We are truly proud of this achievement and look forward to maintain this traditions for many more years to come.
