Anura
Anura is the second region you'll Crusade through in Cult of the Lamb following Darkwood. This section of the guide will help you with the requirements to unlock Anura, detail the various rooms and enemy types you'll encounter, as well as provide strategies to defeat the minibosses and reach Heket, the second Bishop.

Unlocking Anura's Door
To unlock the doorway to Anura, the second main area in Cult of the Lamb, you'll need to have amassed at least 7 Followers. The easiest way to obtain followers is to run through Darkwood again and seek out rooms with the Follower (praying person) icon below the room icon.
Once you've bolstered your Cult to at least 7 Followers, head north from your Cult's village and approach the doorway to Anura on the right. Interact with it to unseal the doorway.
Anura Room Layouts
Anura features a bit more complicated layouts when compared to Darkwood. Firstly, you'll have many more branching pathways, meaning the journey is far less linear than before.
Because rooms are not revealed until you enter them, be prepared for a lot more combat. Try to upgrade your abilities by delivering Sermons so you can gain more health, better weapons, and more spells to choose from.
Your first run in Anura will feature two rooms and a miniboss, the second run features three rooms and a miniboss, the third run features four rooms and a miniboss, and the fourth run features four rooms followed by a fight against the region's Bishop, Heket.
Anura Enemy Types
Anura features a whole host of new enemy types compared to Darkwood with different attack patterns to learn. As with all enemies, watch for the slight glow before they attack, as it gives you a moment to dodge roll out of the way.
You'll generally be introduced to new enemies each run. Learn the attack patterns as the area's miniboss will likely be a larger variant of one or two of the enemies you faced during that run.
One of the more common enemies in Anura is the jumping red frogs. These enemies have a simple, yet predictable, attack pattern. They will glow momentarily before jumping in your general direction. Dodge out of the way to ensure you don't take a hit. Once the enemy lands, you should strike it a couple times with your weapon before preparing for another attack.
Another enemy you'll run into frequently are the small hooded enemies wielding daggers. These enemies strike by lunging towards you after a short glow. Dodge out of the way, or go on the offensive and smack them with your weapon to briefly stunlock them, negating any incoming attacks momentarily.
You'll also encounter skeleton-like enemies with large, crooked daggers. These enemies shuffle towards you slowly and have a large charge-up attack that you'll want to avoid. Similar to the smaller hooded enemies, you can stunlock these enemies by repeatedly striking them with your weapon. However, they do have the ability to parry your attacks, so try not to spam your attack.
Similar to the red frogs, you'll encounter grey frog-like enemies with fangs and puffy cheeks. Both variants jump in place for the most part, but will occasionally burp and summon a horde of explosive flies that will seek you out.
You'll also find stationary turret-like enemies with yellow feathers and a glowing red center in both small and large varieties. They will spit out fireball-like projectiles toward you, or in predictable patterns.
Some rooms contain blue bat-like creatures with red eyes. These enemies will flap around the area and lunge at you with a wing attack that can be avoided by dodging at the last second.
Miniboss - Gusion
Gusion is a large mutated frog-like miniboss that will leap around the arena, and summon smaller frog enemies to attack you.
To begin, Gusion moves like the frogs you've likely encountered in Anura already. He will glow, jump, and try to land on you. However, Gusion releases a small shockwave that will hurt you if you're too close to the landing spot.
Gusion will also spawn an egg throughout the encounter. He will jump onto the egg to crack it, and it will hatch after being hit a few times, spawning two smaller red frog enemies. You can also break the egg with your attacks to make it hatch early.
Lastly, Gusion will spit out a cluster of fireballs periodically that you'll want to dodge roll away from to ensure you don't take any unnecessary damage.
Once you've defeated Gusion, you can recruit its animal form, claim your loot, and head back to the village.
Miniboss - Eligos
Eligos is a large flying variant of the grey frog-like enemies with similar, yet more devastating, attacks.
Eligos will puff up and expel a large number of exploding flies that seek you out. You'll need to attack them to make them go away, otherwise they will follow you around the arena.
Another attack to look out for is Eligos' charging attack. It will flash for a moment before lunging towards your general direction, with two streams of fireballs following behind it. The fireballs will fan out in a V-shaped pattern, and can be dodged through easily.
Eligos will also occasionally lunge at you and try to bite you. Simply dodge roll backwards or out of the way to avoid this quick attack, while also getting a couple swings in if you can.
After Eligos is defeated, you'll be able to recruit its animal form to your Cult. Grab your loot and head back to the village when you're ready.
Miniboss - Zepar
Zepar is a large three-eyed frog creature with growths on its back. Like the other frog-like enemies, Zepar jumps in the air and slams down on the ground to create a small shockwave.
It will also spawn large explosive flying insect projectiles that you'll want to avoid. Thankfully, it telegraphs the location of the bomb on the ground, so you have time to get out of the way.
This fight can get quite chaotic as Zepar continually summons additional red frogs into the arena to distract you. Focus on keeping the additional enemies to a minimum while giving Zepar everything you've got. Eventually, Zepar will fall and you'll be able to recruit its animal form for your Cult. Grab your loot and head back to the village when you're ready.
Anura Boss - Heket
Your fourth run through Anura will culminate in a fight against the region's Bishop, Heket. After consuming its followers, it will grow into a gargantuan multi-eyed monster with a cross-shaped mouth lined with teeth.
Since it somewhat resembles a frog, it comes standard with many of the frog-like enemy attacks you're familiar with already, such as the jumping attack followed by a ground slam.
One of Heket's unique abilities, though, is its long tongue strike attack. Heket will glow for a brief moment and lash out its long tongue at your location. You'll need to time the dodge roll at the last second to avoid taking damage, as an early roll makes you an easy target.
Heket will also summon various flies - both of the swarm type and the explosive projectile variety. Do your best to attack the group of black flies to eliminate them, and run around the arena to avoid the explosive projectile insects. Sometimes Heket will spew an entire mouthful of exploding insects, in which case you'll need to carefully weave through the detonation spots.
The last thing you'll need to worry about during this fight is the neverending horde of red frog enemies coming from both the left and right side of the arena. Try not to focus your attention on them as they won't stop spawning, but you can defeat them if you're running low on Fervour for your spells.
When Heket's health is drained to about one-third, it will exit the arena and summon two Zepar-like creatures that you'll need to fight at the same time, in addition to the endless smaller red frog enemies that continue to spawn.
Once defeated, Heket will return to the arena. This time, it will unleash a flurry of tongue-lashing attacks in addition to its regular arsenal of abilities.
Whittle the last of Heket's health down and you'll receive a Heart of a Heretic that you can use for another Crown Upgrade, as well as remove another set of chains from The One Who Waits.
