CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. (KFVS) - A man accused of assaulting a female was arrested in Caruthersville.

According to Caruthersville Police, 44-year-old Kelvin T. Foster, of Caruthersville, was arrested on Sunday, April 21 on a warrant for assault first-degree and unlawful use of a weapon.

Foster was booked into the Pemiscot County Justice Center without bond.

Charging documents state Foster is accused of hitting a female in the head with a chunk of asphalt, causing serious injury.

According to a probable cause statement, police were called at 6:55 p.m. on March 31 to a report of an assault on Truman and 11th Street.

When they arrived, officers said they found a victim with a large cut on the left side of her face.

Witnesses told officers that a man hit the female in the face with a chunk of asphalt, which knocked her to the ground, and then took off running from the scene, still holding the chunk of asphalt in his hand.

The victim was taken from the scene to a Memphis, Tennessee hospital for treatment.

Police said the mother of the victim identified the suspect as Kelvin Foster.
