About us

ICDI is a Chicago-based nonprofit working to uphold the dignity and human rights of immigrants. Our programs provide direct services and housing with wrap-around care to asylum seekers, and advocates for justice for immigrants at the local, state, and national levels. (Formerly named Interfaith Community for Detained Immigrants) ICDI Programs: - The CITA (Chicago Immigrant Transit Assistance) Program assists recently-arrived asylum seekers by providing basic need items such as food, water, clothing, and translation services. - The Housing and Case Management Program provides asylum seekers with community-based housing, case management, mentors, and a monthly stipend. - The Migrant Children's Visitation Program provides visits, spiritual care, and religious materials to unaccompanied migrant youth in shelters.
