The exhibition "The Academia Belgica in Rome 1937-1939. A Singular Belgian-Italian Work of Art” explores, for the first time, the architectural history of the Academia Belgica building and its largely preserved interior design. The exhibition is accompanied by a richly illustrated publication, published by Mercatorfonds and Yale University Press London, entitled « The Academia Belgica in Rome. Building for the Arts and Sciences in the Eternal City ». This is the first monograph ever published on the history and architectural program of the Academia Belgica building and its interior design and presents the results of an extensive research project initiated by the Academia Belgica in 2020. In addition to reproductions of historical photographs, plans and drawings, the publication includes a never-before-published photographic report of the exterior and interior of the building by Belgian photographer Maxime Delvaux.
