I am thrilled to share that I will be attending the @American Academy of Neurology (#AAN) 2023 Congress this weekend on behalf of @Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Held just around the corner from our headquarters in Boston, we will have the opportunity to gather with the neurology community to discuss the latest advances and how we can apply these learnings to improve care. Scientific exchange is essential because each congress presentation has the potential to expand our understanding of rare diseases and inspire new thinking about the way they are treated. While there have been great strides in research over the years, many rare diseases – especially rare neurological diseases – are not well understood and challenging to diagnose. By continuing to share insights across academia and industry at events like #AANAM, we are able to learn, collaborate and help improve outcomes for patients. Part of what drew me to Alexion was that patient input is considered core to every stage of the R&D process. People living with rare diseases are the true experts in the rare disease journey – it is crucial we uncover the full spectrum of their experiences to understand how we can best serve them, and come together as a scientific community to spark innovation in areas where we can make the biggest impact. I’m proud to work for an organization that keeps patients at the center of all that we do and focuses on research for rare diseases with the greatest unmet needs. I’m looking forward to joining likeminded researchers, physicians, advocates and colleagues at AAN and discussing Alexion’s commitment to patient-centric research. Hope to see some of you over the next few days at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center!
Hope to run into you, Christophe Hotermans, MD PhD

1yHave a great congress, my friend. You’re unquestionably the best I’ve encountered in nearly 20 years in Medical Affairs, Alexion will be profoundly well represented this week.
