Last weekend, our Linkebeek corridors and laboratories were filled by 60 excited primary school visitors; participating to a fun, educational, and scientific day on energy. All part of the ToekomstATELIERdelAvenir (TADA) learning network programme. An animation for all! For the past 4 years, Laborelec, in partnership with ENGIE Belgium, has hosted a one day event for the TADA. An ASBL organisation empowering and integrating socially vulnerable young people (more than 1.800 children in Brussels...) through coaching and extracurricular learning activities. Bravo to all Laborelec colleagues who got involved; volunteering to show our little guests around and animate workshops in the interest of promoting enjoyment of science and to make knowledge more accessible to all. Among important topics covered were storage, power networks and energy management systems and their role in energy flexibility, support for wind power development, activities for B2C in Belgium, as well as nuclear in which both our support for current, and preparation for future, operations were addressed.

I had the pleasure of visiting Laborelec, the R&D center of ENGIE last week. I was particularly struck by the diversity of expertise at Laborelec. The breadth of skills present is not just impressive; it’s essential to the innovative spirit that drives us forward to realize the energy transition. Our activities here, spanning both research and development and operational assistance, are vital to the success of ENGIE’s Global Business Units. Throughout the day, I engaged in insightful, technical discussions with our management team and experts. We delved into topics such as energy storage, power networks, and energy management systems, all of which are crucial for #energyflexibility. We also discussed Laborelecs support for wind power development, our consumer activities in Belgium, and our approach to nuclear energy, where Laborelec is supporting current operations and preparing for the future. I left Laborelec impressed by the tangible added value of our solutions and how they are embraced by our operational entities. I am absolutely convinced that investing in R&D is essential for accelerating the transition ! #withENGIE #innovation

Earlier this week, our CEO Luc Goossens, took part on a (Ghent University) Blauwe Cluster (Blue Cluster) vzw panel on the use of energy resources from the ocean. The debate confirmed the shared conviction between policy makers and industry, that continued support for innovation is key to keep and re-enforce the worldwide recognized expertise of Flemish and Belgian companies, academics and research institutes.
