A must read: a blueprint for corporate allyship in confusing times Kelley Robinson's January 30 opinion piece in Newsweek introduced the Human Rights Campaign "LGBTQ+ Corporate Citizen" framework to guide businesses beyond superficial support, covering workforce, supply chain, and beyond. I read it, and it is an excellent guide (see link below). Incidentally, it blasts the myth that funding anti-LGBTQ+ politicians through PACs is ever acceptable: “[Through] financially supporting the architects of these bills, even if for very different policy reasons, corporate donors are participating in today’s anti-LGBTQ+ political climate.” My only caveat is that 1.4 trillion of purchasing power is not a global estimate but a U.S. estimate (it felt a bit low). 📈 Why It's Crucial: many companies have been dialing down their engagement while the private sector has a unique opportunity to make a difference. 🔑 By giving concrete examples, HRC's Report shows companies quietly living their values without contributing to inflaming societal polarization. 🎯 Call to Action: Businesses are encouraged to use the report's framework to enhance LGBTQ+ inclusion and join HRC-led initiatives to amplify their impact. #LGBTQInclusion #CorporateResponsibility #HumanRightsCampaign #InclusiveWorkplace #Advocacy #DiversityAndInclusion 🔗 Explore More: https://lnkd.in/eE3QBKyx 📣 Join the conversation: Let's work towards a more inclusive business world. We are mothers, and we are always beside our children! A Brazilian couple faced discrimination after having a child through surrogacy. One of the dadz, a global expatriate employee working for, a multinational pharmaceutical company, was unjustly fired after requesting paternity leave and coming out as gay. The National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia, and Racism (Inadi) of Argentina concluded that the company's conduct was discriminatory, based on the employee's sexual orientation. Inadi characterized the company's attitude as 'punitive' and a typical case of indirect discrimination, questioning the family model chosen by the couple. The company contested, citing performance issues, but Inadi found no evidence to justify the dismissal. #IDAHOBIT2024 https://www.em.com.br/diversidade/2023/12/6666547-brasileiro-gay-e-discriminado-apos-ter-filho-por-meio-de-barriga-solidaria.html https://www1.folha.uol.com.br/mundo/2023/12/brasileiro-gay-e-discriminado-na-argentina-apos-ter-filho-por-meio-de-barriga-solidaria.shtml
