🤔 Cephalotrichum domesticum degrades cellulose and the latter can decompose wood. Some fungi of this genus also degrade xylan and can produce an extracellular keratinase that is capable of hydrolysing keratinous materials such as wool, hair, nails and skin. ☝ In addition, Cephalotrichum fungis can cause invasive fungal infections in neutropenic patients with haematological malignancies! ☝ Our latest results show that IdeSip-FUN effectively inhibits the growth of Cephalotrichum domesticum!
