Analysis in a new report from the IPPR reveals that while the UK as a whole is getting sicker, this is more keenly felt in poorer areas. "Places with poorer health also experience lower household income, higher poverty and lower wealth... People living in the most deprived local authorities are one and a half times more likely to experience economic inactivity and are twice as likely to be in poor health." The report reveals four key themes: - People see safety, security, opportunity and stability as the foundations of a healthy life. - Spaces, places and relationships are key priorities. - Power and community cohesion are central. - Good health should be everyone’s business. This report is another clear reminder why we need effective place-based leadership that brings together local authorities, health, police, businesses, and charities to deliver transformative public services for local communities. Despite this, it's one of the fastest-growing crimes in Canada, with rising reports in Alberta. In 2021, Three Hive Consulting, our sister company, initiated an ongoing evaluation, comparing Alberta’s regionalized approach to combat human trafficking in Northern and Southern regions.
