Dear Meindert, You had a powerful impact on me for the six, very happy years that I had the pleasure of working with you. In a time when egos became overinflated you were always modest and self effacing, yet you left your mark with your integrity, intelligence and humour. I cannot remember a day when you did not have a smile as you greeted colleagues and clients; you never talked badly of anyone. Your support and caring have left Alison and me with an enduring affection for all things Dutch. Towards the end, during our recent calls, you faced the inevitable with dignity.
