For over a week, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson remained silent as Henry Cavill announced he was stepping down as Superman in the new heriarchy of power at DC. This phrase did come to pass but not in the way Johnson imagined as he kept repeating it. James Gunn took over the entire studios and heads started rolling, starting with Patty Jenkins. The Wonder Woman director decided to step aside as the vision Gunn has for DC didn't align with hers. Next it was Henry Cavill, who was gracious in his message to all fans who mourned his departure as Superman.

Johnson was the one who pushed for Henry Cavill to return more than anybody, his ex-wife is the British actor's agent. After the news broke, Johnson stopped following Warner Brothers on social media and everybody assumed he was angry at everything that happened. Suddenly, his future as 'Black Adam' hung from a thread. We finally got some news and Johnson doesn't seem like he is giving up on continuing to tell the story of this character. He has many reasons to keep fighting for it, as he explained in the statement made to all his social media followers.

Dwayne Johnson won't give up on Black Adam

In the statement he published on his social media, Dwayne Johnson confirmed Black Adam won't be part of the initial story of the character. He wrote: "James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling. However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters. James and I have known each other for years and have always rooted for each other to succeed. It's no different now, and I will always wrote for DC (and Marvel) to win and WIN BIG."

The reason he isn't giving up that easily is very simple. Dwayne Johnson tried to make 'Black Adam' happen for 15 years and he finally made it a reality in 2022. He is too invested in the character to simply leave it alone just because James Gunn doesn't want to include him right now. But Johnson and James sat down and reached an agreement. At least, Dwayne can keep his hopes up that the character might be included in future chapters of DC's overall story. Hopefully, he won't be a decaying old man by then.
