Diane Allen, a longtime legislator and former TV news anchor, disclosed Monday that she is fighting cancer. Allen expects to undergo surgery as early as this week for an illness described as "aggressive," the Burlington County Republican said in a statement. She gave no details and asked that her family's privacy be respected. Allen, 61, who lives in Edgewater Park, has represented the 7th District since 1996. She announced her illness in a statement that thanked people who have called asking about her health and asked for the public's prayers.
