Common Name The Little Goiter Masdevallia [refers to the small mentum of the sepaline tube]

Found in Santander department of Colombia in cloud forests at elevations around 2950 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing natural hybrid between M. strumifera and M. tubulosa with a blackish, erect ramicaul envelopd by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical-obovate, subacute, gradually narrowing into the slender, blackish petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a slender, erect, 4.8 to 6" [12 to 15 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract below the middle and a tubular floral bract
