Saverio "Sam" Pollaccia, vicecapo of Masseria borgata

In 1904 , at the age of 17, he emigrated to New York , where he soon became a feared " man of honor " of the powerful Morello family . Since the beginning of Prohibition Pollaccia had been in business with two other prominent mobsters such as his immediate superior Joe Masseria and with Frankie Yale in the Coney Island Territory . In 1931 , when Masseria was assassinated at the "Scarpatos" restaurant in Coney Island , Pollaccia was suspected by the police of being one of the perpetrators.
