Margie Orelene Oestreicher, age 84, of DuQuoin, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Fair Acres Nursing Home, DuQuoin, IL.
Margie was born September 26, 1922 in DuQuoin, IL, the daughter of Mikey and Marilla (Miller) Peters. She was united in marriage to Russel Oestreicher on June 1, 1942 in Perryville, MO and he preceded her in death on May 11, 2001. Margie was a homemaker and enjoyed her pets, gardening, crocheting and embroidery. She made all of her sons’ clothes for years and was a former member of a local quilting club.
Margie is survived by two sons, Darrel Lynn Oestreicher and wife Evelyn of Mulkeytown, IL and Russel Dale Oestreicher of DuQuoin, IL, one sister, Maxine Pierce of Merced, CA, two half-sisters, Karen Pzorak of Palatine, IL and Lana Murley of O’Fallon, IL, four grandchildren & seven great-grandchildren, Kevin and Dawn Oestreicher and their three children, Sean and Traci (Oestreicher) Haney and their two children, Kerry and Natosha Oestreicher and their child, and Lennet Oestreicher and her child, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Lennet Jo Oestreicher, one sister, Twilla Marie Peters and one brother, Larry Peters.
Funeral services will be held at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in DuQuoin, IL on Friday, May 4, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. with Brother Collin Hirsch officiating. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, DuQuoin, IL.
Friends may call at the Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home, DuQuoin, IL on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. and on Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
