She made this one of the hardest classes at USC. She's a very tough grader and is very demanding and unrelenting. This class is already four days a week and she just makes it complete hell. Do no take whatsoever.

She is bubbly and is very kind in office hours, but she needs to reevaluate how to approach teaching with Zoom. She is inconsiderate and interrupts her students' legitimate concerns. Not understanding in lecture. Lectures are not very helpful and are very stressful because of participation. Starting to dislike Italian...

I had such a terrible time in her class that I actually ended up switching languages just so I wouldnt have to have her as a professor again. She gets mad at you for not knowing how to say something in Italian even though its the first level. Expects you to almost be fluent. Gets mad when you ask questions. The most brutal grader ever.

A native speaker who wrote the (quite good) textbook and who really seems to enjoy teaching. I'm not particularly good at languages, but I loved her class. She's amazing.

This class made me upset. One time she blamed us for not knowing that a subway car can go onto a ferry and then said ferry will drop you off in Sicily. She expects students to know a handful of esoteric information, because "culture" is a very important part of curriculum. Get ready for some long nights, and longer classes kids.

This class made me miserable. You'll end up teaching yourself everything because she doesn't give actual lessons, wondering why your participation grade is low when you attend class and ask questions daily, and lamenting over small mistakes on your exams that cost you more points than they should have. Avoid this class at all costs.

Italiano doesn't teach. The entire course was spent doing activities from the text with classmates. While speaking is important in learning a new language, Italiano's lack of proper lectures robs her students of a clear understanding of the materials, especially grammar. Her class is disorganized, unclear, and more confusing than necessary.

Italiano made me hate the language. You have to be essentially fluent in Italian to do well on her exams, which are lengthy. She would also bizarrely ask us our opinion about a specific section on the exam and then tell us why we were wrong to have those opinions at all. She destroyed my confidence not only as an Italian speaker, but as a student.

Professor Italiano is extremely passionate about the Italian language but fails to instill the same passion in her students. Her grading system is nonsensical and she was often unable to explain how she came up with our examessayparticipation grades. I went to office hours every week, which didn't give me an advantage in the slightest.

Professor Italiano attempts to show her passion in her teaching style, but can be dismissive and degrading to students. Her tests are difficult and she doesn't grade very fairly. I do not recommend taking her as your Italian 2 professor, as there are other good options available. She is downright rude to students as well.

Italiano is a mess. She's very disorganized, and was always losing people's assignments. Her expectations are very unclear, and the exams frequently don't cover what she focussed on in class. She always interrupts you when you're trying to speak, and never actually answers your questions. I don't recommend her at all.

Prof. Italiano is extremely helpful. It is true that she does require you to speak only Italian in class. However, as someone who began learning Italian after already being able to speak three languages (1 native and 2 learned), I can attest to the importance behind this approach. Go to class and study diligently and you will do well.

Prof. Italiano definitely isn't an easy grader. You have to go to class and speak in Italian. However, she is a really good professor and you will learn a lot. She's enthusiastic and helpful. She seems to like teaching a lot. If you pay attention, study, and do the homework you will get a good grade.

she cares a lot about what she is teaching, but the class is nevertheless really hard. and it just gets harder as it goes on. it can be extremly discouraging how much effort you can put into it, with little benefit
