Description

This is a 51 card BOOM deck, a BOOK COMPANION, with both audio and written word per card, targeting 4 goals, as a companion for the BOOK "No, Silly-Willy", ©2018, Author Caroline J Clarke Connelly. An eBOOK w/AUDIO, version of the book is available in my TpT store.

I approached the creation of the 4 sequencing related activities, as an integration of students having to not only comprehend the story character appearance sequences, but, to recognize the embedded words that code both TIME & ORDINAL concepts, an important precursory skill for developing oral and written narratives. I also based activities on the understanding that for narrative development and retelling, students need command of the words that code both TIME & ORDINALS, for retelling stories, events, and/or object/character sequencing, ability to comprehend the sequence when it moves sequentially from first to last, AND, remember a sequence time when characters are NOT sequential. Finally, the YES/NO questions were created to support the further comprehension of a sequence via pairing the words that code TIME concepts with the character sequence, in order for students to correctly answer each yes/no question.

4 specific Goals for this BOOM deck:

This deck contains 4 sections, 4 different goals, audio & written word input per card:

1st Goal: RECEPTIVE UNDERSTANDING of the ORDER/SEQUENCE, of the appearance of the 10 story characters, when given audio/written stimulus per card containing words that code TIME CONCEPTS i.e. First, next, after, or last, moving sequentially per cards from the first to last story character, (PICTURE RESPONSE ANSWERS). It DEVELOPS understanding the words that are coding TIME concepts & SEQUENTIAL MEMORY.

2nd Goal: RECEPTIVE UNDERSTANDING of the ORDER/SEQUENCE of the 10 story characters, given a stimulus per card containing words that code ORDINAL CONCEPTS i.e. 1st/First, 2nd/second etc.(through to 10th), & moving sequentially per card from first to last story character (PICTURE RESPONSE ANSWERS).

DEVELOPS understanding of words that code ORDINAL CONCEPTS & memory of story sequence, given words that code ORDINAL concepts.

3rd Goal: Remembering sequence of characters, presented OUT of ORDER, & GIVEN words that code TIME CONCEPTS, (PICTURE RESPONSE ANSWERS).

4th Goal: Answering YES/NO questions related to the sequence of appearance of story characters, & questions contain words that code TIME CONCEPTS.
