'ng' (/ŋ/) Articulation Stories plus Language Activities!

If you are looking for longer articulation stories with a wide variety of targets, then this resource is for you. This no-prep, eco-friendly black-ink only pack contains separate stories for the 'ng' (/ŋ/) sound in the medial and final position of words. All stories come in both American English AND British English. Every story is available with either the target words highlighted or not highlighted, depending on the needs of your students. They are an ideal way to move up from working on sounds in sentences/paragraphs on their way to carryover tasks, or used as a pre-test/post-test comparison. Stories are also great for auditory bombardment of a sound, if that’s where your students are at. Teachers will find it beneficial for letter or sound of the week activities, as well as phonics tasks and discussing the various ways each sound can be spelled.

Language activities are included for each story, making it perfect for mixed groups or students who need to work on both articulation and language skills. There is also a list of suggestions for further activities you could try that target both of these areas. Activities are split into younger students vs. older students so they are age-appropriate.

Each pack contains:

• Two original 'ng' stories, one for each position (medial and final)
• Stories that are AT LEAST 300 words (most of my stories are closer to 400 words)
• The opportunity to practise the sound in dozens of different words (not the same word repeated over and over again). There are no consonant blends for the target sound/position, except for ng-g (/ŋg/) in the medial position (e.g. finger), due to the limited number of words with ng-vowel in the middle of the word.
• Stories and language activities that come in both American English and British English
• 2 pages of language-based questions per story, targeting a variety of skills such as Wh questions, summarizing, story retell, and general vocabulary skills (synonyms, antonyms, definitions)
• Additional ways you could use these stories so you could create a whole lesson out of them.
