The Trey Clegg Singers (TCS) is a semi-professional chorus founded in March 2016.  Our mission is to use music as a healing force for reconciliation, equality, and justice  Always striving for musical excellence, we perform music that moves hearts and informs minds.  We represent the ethnic diversity of Atlanta, Black, White, Latino, Asian, multiracial and multicultural. We are proud to be an affirming community chorus inviting to all expressions of gender identity and sexual orientation. We are a welcoming community that values all the human spirit offers.

Since our founding in 2016, we have had many in-person and virtual concerts, performing the music of different styles, cultures, and languages: classical, gospel, spirituals, Broadway, German, Russian, Chinese, Latin, Spanish, Xhosa, Yoruba, Zulu, and Hebrew.  During Black History Month, in February of 2022, along with guest performers and members of a predominately African-American orchestra, brought together for the event, TCS premiered a new symphonic work, "Without Regard to Sex, Race or Color," written and composed by a TCS member.

TCS was founded by Artistic Director Trey Clegg, an accomplished organist, who has toured abroad extensively.  Trey’s professional life and musical interests have focused primarily on musical expressions within the African American tradition.  Trey's dream was to lead a multicultural chorus performing music of all styles with musical excellence, inspiring healing, and justice.  That dream became a reality in 2016.  In addition to inspiring exemplary musicianship, The Trey Clegg Singers have adopted a motto that defines who we are to each other:

We are more than music,
We are more than a chorus,

We are Family!

TCS embodies this feeling of family, and it is what audiences see, hear and feel at our concerts.

The effects of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic caused TCS to move to a virtual platform for all of our 2020-2021 season.  Beginning in March 2020 and continuing until August 2021, TCS conducted all rehearsals and performed all concerts virtually.  The concerts were available free of charge to our audience on YouTube.  They were also distributed to Atlanta area hospitals to offer hope and healing to the community at the forefront of the pandemic.

TCS now sings again in person, concluding its 6th year on July 31, 2022.  The 2022-2023 is off to a great start and will include concerts throughout the year.  The theme for this season’s concerts is “A Road to Healing.”  View the schedule here.

- Craig C. Johnson

"As impressive as the performance was, that which followed was more compelling and quite surprising. All those singers diffused into the ancient spaces of this hallowed sanctuary, taking hands, embracing, hugging and kissing everyone within reach. We made it a point to move to the aisle to be part of this tsunami of wondrous agape love. I can’t recall a more generous outpouring of hospitality and gratitude in the world. We were there fully an hour after the program, sharing hugs, e-mails, stories, and souls with choir and audience members alike."

- Dr. Constance Chapman

"Clegg has taken that philosophy even farther. The Trey Clegg Singers not only includes singers from a diverse set of backgrounds and sexual orientations in Atlanta, but we sing several genres of music – classical, spirituals, and contemporary gospel, all equally as well, a feat difficult for most choral groups because of the intricate syncopation required in those genres."
