Product Description
Favorite rose companion with chartreuse flowers and good "filler plant". Better in cooler areas (Big Lakes, North East).
Award of Garden Merit of RHS in 1993 (Royal Horticultural Society, UK).
Dense clumps of soft-hairy, light green leaves, usually 1.5' tall x 2-2.5' wide. Chartreuse flowers decorate the plant in May/June and are wonderful cut flowers.
This species originates in east European mountains (Carpathians, Caucusus and Turkey), so it appreciates somewhat cooler climate or areas with cooler nights.
Full sun in cooler areas, half shade or afternoon shade in hotter climates, average soils, drained soil, clayish soil with average moisture to moist soils (tolerates medium-dry soils too)
Hardiness zones 3-8, heat zones 1-7, quite adaptable.
Deer and rabbit resistant perennial.
Easy to grow, on optimum conditions can self-seed quite aggressively (easily seeds in cracks in paths, among stepping rocks, etc) and in longer term can smother other less competitive or small plants.
Otherwise it is great groundcovering plant, that goes well with many plants in both sunny borders or half shade borders, grows well even with hosta in half shade. Great filler (similar to hardy geraniums) for borders, woodland edges, woodland gardens, along paths. It is quite low maintenance plant, but it's good to cut plants back after blooming to encourage new fresh growth and firm dense clumps (but even if you don't do, it will look acceptable good).

Lady's Mantle
As with all of the plants from US Perennials, the lady's mantle were sturdy and well-formed with strong root systems and flourished when I planted them.
