Description
The Lime tree, like the Oak, was holy to the old Germanic tribes and laden with history and legends. A sturdy tree with a long longevity. There are many varieties of Lime Trees. The wood is very light and pliable and has been used for carving.
Flowers
Groups of 5 or more, drooping panicles with up to 12 flowers, aromatic, yellowish. Flowers have both male and female parts.
Leaves
Cordate heart-shaped. Heart-shaped, serrated, with stalks.
Fruits Seeds
Drupe: outer fleshy part surrounds a pit with a seed inside.
Edible
Leaves when young.
Medical
Flowers: to treat flu.
