ABIGAILE (Patio Rose) 

Once of the most delightful patio roses on the market. 

Bred by Tantau in Germany who breed some superb roses and this one is no exception. 

Masses of blooms throughout the summer and well into the autumn or until the first frosts. 

The flowers colours vary through silver, pink and deep carmine depending at what stage the 

bloom is at. A very beautiful little patio rose which can be grown in a container, or looks 

pretty stunning en masse in the garden. Not very tall , so can even be grown successfully in 

window boxes. Nice healthy foliage and good disease resistance. For best results plant in a 

sunny position and dead head regularly. Not a powerful perfume but very pleasant Bred in Germany Circa 1955 

ABRAHAM (English Rose) 

Lovely large peony shaped blooms in shades of pink apricot and yellow. A strong growing shrub 

which can also be grown as a small climber. Good repeat flowering on an excellent vigorous 

bush. A rich fruity fragrance with a refreshing sharpness, Makes a lovely cut flower as the 

blooms last well in water. Named after one of the founders of the Industrial Revolution. 

Also known as 'Abraham Darby” 

ADAM (Climbing Rose) 

A beautiful old rose bred in France in around 1838. Large double flowers of pink/peachbuff, 

in clusters of three or singly. Flowers through the season until the first frosts. Light 

green glossy, wavy or ruffled foliage, Can be grown as a large shrub or short climber to 

around 8ft. Repeats well throughout the season with a lovely old tea 

fragrance. Parentage is unknown but it is said to be the first of the Tea roses. 

Quite a hardy rose but does particularly well in a warm and protected small garden. 

Almost thornless. ( Quite A Rare Rose) Also known as 'The President' 

ADAM (Adam Messerich) (Climbing Rose) 

A lovely old Bourbon rose with semi-double luminous bright pink blooms. . Continuous flowering 

with a slight raspberry fragrance. Good disease resistance and an ideal rose for cutting. 

An upright and vigorous rose which makes quite a statement in any garden as it has great reblooming 

qualities. 

Very popular in Victorian gardens as Bourbon Roses appeared in many paintings of the time 

Bred in Germany 1920 

ADAM (Adam’s Rose) (Floribunda) 

This attractive new rose produces clusters purple-pink flowers from June until November. 

Mid green glossy foliage and a good health record. 

Happy in the garden or container, but like all roses likes plenty of sunshine. 

A cracker of a rose with a superb fragrance. 

ADRIANA (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

Gorgeous shapely blooms of delicate pale cream, deepening to creamy caramel. 

A lovely healthy tough rose with masses of blooms throughout the summer and into autumn. 

The spent blooms should be removed regularly to promote further blooms and keep the bush tidy. 

Good disease resistance 

A good bedding rose as the blooms last quite a while and always seems to have a good show. 

A very beautiful rose with a lovely spicy fragrance. 

AGATHA (Shrub Rose) 

'Agatha' is one the survivors of a group from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries called 'The 

Agathe Roses ; No one is sure why they have this name, though many theories are proposed. 

It is a broad growing, dense relaxed shrub to about 4ft, with dark greenish grey and almost 

thornless stems. 

The foliage is dark green, rather deeply veined, healthy and plentiful, 

The flowers are very fragrant, abundant and are up to 3ins across and borne in small clusters. 

They emerge from tubby buds with feathery sepals in mid summer and are made up of many 

beautifully arranged deep reddish pink petals each with paler reverses, often paling to softer pink, especially around 

the outer edges of the fully opened blooms. 

A superb rose of distinction which is also completely disease resistant. 

AGNES (Rugosa Rose) 

One of the few yellow Rugosa's and well worth a place in any rose lovers garden. 

Large double blooms of pale amber with a deeper centre, produced in small clusters with an old 

fashioned appearance. Although supposed to be only summer flowering, it very often produces a 

second flush later in the season.

Dense foliage is ferny and dark green on an upright and spreading shrub which needs plenty of room. 

One of first rugosa's to flower each year, and although it looks delicate and fluffy is like most rugosa's a tough and 

disease resistant rose which will cope with poor or sandy soils. 

Makes a superb specimen shrub. Scented. 

ALAN (Alan Titchmarsh) (English Rose. David Austin) 

No need to tell you who this lovely rose is named after. Large deeply cut blooms in a warm 

glowing pink colour. Will grow into a large shrub with an elegant arching habit. As with 

most of the "English" roses this new variety has a superb old rose fragrance. Looks sure to 

be as popular as the man himself. 

This rose raised money in 2005 for the charity 'Greenfingers' who create gardens for 

Children’s Hospices. 

ALEC (Alec’s Red) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

Most catalogues would describe the flowers on this rose as 'Turkey red' although the colour does 

fade a little with age. The large flowers and the fantastic scent have enabled this variety to stay 

popular for many years. It is a vigorous plant with dark green healthy foliage and repeats well 

It comes into flower earlier in the season than most other roses so has a good long flowering period.. 

Named after a well known Scottish rose grower who started breeding late in life, and this 

was his first big success and is now grown all over the world. An excellent garden rose but does 

not always do well in a container. We used to stock the climbing version but it did not prove 

popular as it had a limited flowering period.

ALEXANDRA (Princess Alexandra) (Renaissance Rose) 

One of the new group of Renaissance Shrub roses which look certain to become extremely popular 

in English gardens over the next few years. Lovely large quartered blooms of deep cerise on 

strong upright and healthy growth. 

Flowers from June until the first frosts. 

Dark green foliage. Highly Scented.

ALFRED (Alfred De Dalmas) (Shrub Rose 

Creamy white blooms heavily overlaid with silvery satiny pink. Sends up strong branching

ALICE (Alice Garnier) (Rambling Rose) 

Fully double blooms of buff-apricot and pink in many clusters. 

Long slender branches with an abundance of small dark glossy foliage. Summer flowering with a 

wonderful strong fragrance of apples. Can cope with poor soil, and does well in shade.

ALICE (Miss Alice) (English Rose. David Austin) 

beautiful little English Rose that is not as well known as it should be. 

A charming rose of true Old rose character with quite short but bushy and healthy growth. 

The flowers are a lovely soft pink at first paling with age. Excellent for the front of a mixed border. 

It has a lovely rounded old rose fragrance with additional hints of Lily Of The Valley. 

Named after Miss Alice de Rothschild, who created a beautiful rose garden at Waddesdon Manor 

(National Trust). 

AMANDA (Floribunda Rose) 

An exceptionally free flowering floribunda with large trusses of rich buttercup yellow blooms. 

The blooms turn to an attractive mixture of yellow and orange/pink as the blooms age. 

A little tall for a floribunda but is a strong and healthy bush with dark glossy foliage. 

An excellent bedding rose which is not very well known considering it has been around for quite a 

while. Flowers right through the season with quite a good autumn show.

AMBER (Flower Carpet Amber) (Ground Cover Rose) 

Winner Of Over 25 Gold And International Rose Awards. 

Often called the 'Wonder Rose' the Flower Carpet Ground Cover Roses are some of the most popular 

roses available in the world today. This is because of their long flowering period, easy care, 

exceptional disease resistance, and great drought tolerance. A well grown two to three year old 

plant can provide up to, and over, 1,000 blooms per bush. Over thirty five years of breeding by the 

German rose breeders Noack has gone into the development of these disease free, drought tolerant,

ANGELA (Shrub Rose) 

This variety covers itself with heavy sprays of medium sized cupped flowers. 

They are predominantly deep rose pink in colour with highlights of light pink, especially in 

the centre of the blooms. 

The blooms are carried on short stems close to the dark green foliage, and their combined 

stems causes the stems to bow, creating a pleasingly lax habit. Flowers well right through 

the summer and into the autumn. Suitable for mixed bedding or will make a colourful 

hedge. Fruity fragrance Anerkannte Deutsche Rose 1982.

ANNE (Princess Anne) (English Rose. David Austin) 

An exciting new development, stemming from an entirely new line in breeding. It has an overall 

character that is very different from any other rose, having its own very special beauty yet 

retaining the classic full petalled flowers of an English Rose. 

The young flower is deep pink, almost red, gradually fading to a pure deep pink as the bloom 

matures. The undersides of the petals have a pleasing hint of yellow. The petals are rather 

narrow and unusually substantial. 

The growth is upright and the foliage is rather thick, succulent and highly polished, and has 

excellent disease resistance. 

It flowers over a long period and in large clusters, the individual blooms opening in quick succession. 

The compact bushy growth makes this rose ideal for borders, or a great choice for hedging.

ANTHONY (Shrub Rose) 

This lovely modern shrub rose was introduced for the Anthony Nolan Trust. 

Shapely fully double blooms are soft pink and produced in great abundance all summer long. 

Glossy dark green leaves compliment a plant with tidy growth and a superb scent. 

Will grow in the garden or a large container. Has a very good health record and excellent 

dis ease resistance. Dead head regularly to promote more blooms and keep the plant tidy. A 

very easy plant to look after. A very beautiful rose which is gaining in popularity every year. 

The Anthony Nolan Trust is a UK charity that focuses on leukaemia and bone marrow transplantation. It manages 

and recruits donors to one of the two bone marrow registers in the United Kingdom; the other register is the British 

Bone Marrow Registry run by the National Blood Service. It also carries out pioneering research to help make bone 

marrow transplants more effective. The charity is named after Anthony Nolan (born 1971, died 1979), who did not 

suffer from leukaemia but from Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, a rare inherited blood disorder. It was founded by Anthony's 

mother Shirley (1942-2002) in 1974 as the "Anthony Nolan Register". Initially based at the Westminster 

Children's Hospital, it moved to St Mary Abbot's Hospital in 1978 and to its present offices, laboratory and research 

institute in north London. The charity was renamed in 2001 to the "Anthony Nolan Trust". 

ANTONY (Noble Antony) (English Shrub Rose. David Austin) 

A short, bushy rose with dark foliage and flowers of a pleasing shade of deep magenta-crimson. 

These are full petalled, the outer petals turning back to make a most attractive, perfectly formalised, 

deeply domed flower. 

A good choice for smaller gardens, for the front of the border and for bedding. 

Its beautiful rich Old Rose scent won the prize for fragrance at the Glasgow trials. 

Gets its name from a quotation in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar. 

APHRODITE (Hybrid Tea) 

As very beautiful Hybrid Tea rose which certainly lives up to its name. 

Stunning blooms of pale pink and apricot blends in abundance. 

The blooms are weather resistant and hold their colour and form well, right through the summer, 

and look superb at any time during their flowering season. 

The tough leathery mid green foliage sets the blooms off to perfection, and the whole effect is 

one of great beauty. As an added bonus the bush has excellent health, good disease resistance 

and a lovely spicy fragrance. 

Not very tall for a Hybrid Tea so can be grown in a container as a specimen rose or looks great as 

a group in the garden. To cap it all it makes a great cut rose for indoors as the fragrant blooms last well in water. 

In Greek mythology 'Aphrodite' was the Goddess of love, beauty and sexuality.

ARTHUR (Arthur Bell) Floribunda Rose) 

This most satisfying award winning rose has flowers that are clear yellow, bright in bud, opening 

paler and finishing almost primrose and transforming from pointed buds to pretty cups 

along the way. 

The blooms withstand all weathers and are good for cutting and exhibition as they last well. 

The flower clusters are held above the foliage, on upright stiff stems, and the vigorous bush is

A lovely award winning modern hybrid tea with very unusual coloured blooms of pink, orange

Quite a showy rose and a real eye catcher that is an excellent rose for the garden and looks stunning 

in a group. 

Mid green healthy semi glossy foliage. The blooms are borne singly and in clusters. 

The blooms are ideal for cutting as they last well in water and fill a room with their exceptional 

perfume.

AUDREY (Audrey Wilcox) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

This wonderful rose should be more widely known as it is one of the best hybrid tea roses available. 

Superb large blooms of cerise/pink with a silvery reverse. Very prolific and plenty of blooms right 

through the season. When this one comes in to flower at the nursery it is a real show stopper and 

commands all the attention. 

As well as being a real stunner it is blessed with a wonderful old rose fragrance which fills the 

room when used as a cut flower. One of the best disease resistant roses around. 

Every rose enthusiast should have a few of these in their garden.

BARBARA (Barbara Austin) (English Rose. David Austin) 

A charming rose of true "Old Rose character. The flowers are of a rather informal rosette shape 

and of the most delicate blush pink colouring. These are held on a shrubby, twiggy plant that is 

upright at first but gradually arches over. 

The first flush of flowers is extremely generous but later in the summer is more sporadic. An extremely 

healthy rose with a strong fragrance of an interesting combination of soft Old Rose and 

lilac. Named after the sister of David Austin. 

BARBARA (Barbara Windsor) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

A lovely new Hybrid Tea named after the star of countless Carry On films and now the star of Eastenders on TV. 

Delicate pink flowers borne in large trusses and set off by mid green foliage. 

Flowers throughout the season from late spring to the first frosts. We were very surprised 

and pleased with the amount of blooms this excellent rose produced in the first year. 

The following season was even better with a wonderful show and even more blooms. 

If you are looking to fill your garden with colour this one will be hard to beat. Looks great 

in a group or just as happy in a container. Dead head regularly to keep the flowers coming 

right through the summer. Has proved to have an excellent health record over the last two 

seasons.

BEATRIX (Beatrix Potter) (Shrub Rose) 

A lovely new Shrub/Climber which looks sure to be popular. The shapely blooms are of the 

softest pink shade, with many petals. Flowers throughout the season and well into the autumn 

plus the bonus of a very pleasant perfume. An upright and tidy habit with healthy 

dark green glossy foliage. A versatile rose as it can be grown as a large shrub, or with a 

little assistance can be grown as a short climber. Quite happy in the ground or a large container, 

and is tolerant of poorer soils. 

Named for the Beatrix Potter Society for their 30th anniversary. 

The Society exists to promote the study and appreciation of the life and works of Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) 

As well as writing the famous children's classics, during the latter years of her life Beatrix Potter was responsible for 

the preservation of large areas of the Lake District through her gifts to the National Trust. 

A donation will be given to the Beatrix Potter Society and the National Trust for every rose sold in its first year of

BELINDA (Shrub Rose) 

The semi-double flowers of this variety are a very warm shade of rose pink, with small areas of 

white at the base of the petals which, when they are seen from a distance, give them an airy effect. 

Although rather small, they make an impact because of the amount of bloom. The large clusters 

of blooms are so crowded that they have to jostle for space to display their ruffled petals. 

After the first spectacular flush there is a good repeat bloom into late summer. 

It is a strong grower to above average height but can be kept lower by pruning. 

Alternatively it can be left to grow and it makes a small climber or a good and colourful hedge. 

Deep green foliage with good disease resistance. 

Tolerant of shade and a nice perfume. ( Quite A Rare Rose ) 

Bred by Ann Bentall and named after her daughter Belinda. 

The following year her 'Ballerina' was introduced and its greater success caused 'Belinda' to be rather unfairly undervalued. 

However 'Belinda' has stood the test of time, and even now may become as widely used as 'Ballerina' as she is 

just as pretty. 

BENJAMIN (Benjamin Britten) (English Rose. David Austin) 

An unusual colour among English Roses. 

It starts as a very deep, almost salmon pink which then changes to an intense pink-red. Deeply 

cut flowers gradually develop into an open, slightly cupped rosette. 

'Benjamin Britten' is a useful rose to provide a highlight among the softer shades of most English 

Roses. It is of medium height, vigorous, with dense growth and excellent foliage. In warmer climates 

it can easily be trained as a climber. Very good in all climates, winning the best climbing 

award in Adelaide. 

The fragrance is intensely fruity, with aspects of wine and pear drops. 

Named to commemorate the life and work of the famous English composer, conductor and performer. 

BERENICE (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

A really lovely new hybrid tea that looks certain to be popular. Large classic well formed blooms of 

ivory/pink with deeper centres. Nice neat compact growth with healthy mid green foliage. 

Plenty of blooms from late spring until the first frosts.

BERYL (Golden Beryl) (Patio Rose) 

We have brought back this attractive little patio rose by popular demand. We had it in a few 

years ago but it disappeared off the market but has recently appeared again. 

A super little rose with plenty of exhibition quality blooms of orange blend with yellow streaks. 

The weather plays a big part in its colour. In cool summers the yellow is quite predominant, 

and in warmer summers the orange comes to the fore. 

Flowers all summer and through to the autumn. A nice bushy and compact little rose with 

healthy shiny foliage. 

Not a strong fragrance but quite pleasing for a little rose. Has been very successful on the show bench and won a 

whole host of awards in the USA 

Looks stunning in a group in the garden or container.

BESS (Dainty Bess) (Shrub Rose) 

'Dainty Bess' has been described as one of the loveliest roses ever bred 

A delightful old shrub rose with blooms of soft pink with ragged edges and distinct golden 

brown stamens.

bloom. 

The flowers continue to bloom through summer and autumn.

A lovely modern shrub with masses of soft blush pink blooms with a deeper centre.

Healthy dark green foliage on a vigorous shrub that can also be grown as a short climber. 

A very versatile rose that is happy in the garden or container, and will cope with poorer soils.

BETTY (Betty Boop) (Floribunda Rose) 

An attractive rose from California which looks a sure winner. 

A mixture of cherry red, white with a yellow glow in the centre makes this a very colourful 

rose. 

Blooms well all summer and into the autumn and does not seem to mind our climate. 

Healthy glossy medium sized foliage with excellent disease resistance. 

Best in full sun and does not mind being in a container. Dead head regularly to keep the 

blooms coming and to keep the plant tidy. Not a powerful perfume but very pleasant. 

Chosen as the all American rose winner of 1999. 

This rose has been described by the American breeder as having spunk, sparkle, style and stamina. What more can 

we say. 

Named after the cartoon character in the USA. 

BILL (Uncle Bill) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

Has been around for a few years , but we have recently added this stunner to our collection by 

popular demand. 

A lovely free flowering variety with soft pink-cream blooms. 

The superb high centred blooms arrive in flushes throughout the summer. 

An extremely attractive rose with a wonderful perfume. 

BOBBIE (Bobbie James) (Rambling Rose) 

A vigorous multiflora rambler bearing huge sprays of of small semi-double, creamy white 

flowers with brilliant yellow stamens. 

The large clusters are borne on long, thin, prickly canes, and full of healthy glossy leaves with 

coppery edges. 

Very popular and ideal for growing up through trees where it is a fabulous sight in full bloom.

This long lived variety, which is classed as an Old Garden Rose, China, by some authorities, 

patently has its origins in Asia, although authorities are divided between Rosa Multiflora and 

R.Chinensis, 

Almost thornless, it repeatedly produces large clusters of very small, perfectly shaped pink 

blooms. The long, pointed buds open to pale, silvery pink blooms. The perfectly formed 

miniature blooms are double and rise above light red peduncles. 

It is a small bush with sparse dull green foliage but is very healthy. 

The shrub is low growing, which makes it ideal for small gardens, small beds or even containers. 

The continuous blooming is one reason that is has been so popular for so long,

Very full, large flowers that are deeply cupped at first , gradually becoming shallower.

that varies between soft floral Tea and pure lemon. 

A sturdy, healthy shrub for the border. 

Named after the naturalist who was born in Shropshire. 

CHARLES (Charles De Mills) (Shrub Rose) 

.One of the oldest recorded roses. 

Often seen in photographs as the 'perfect Old Garden Rose' this Gallica is the largest of its family. 

The flowers, which are made up of a multitude of petals, are quite large, and at their best often exceed 

3ins in diameter. 

They emerge in mid summer from flat topped buds, at first cupped, and then flatly saucer shaped; 

their colour is rich glowing purple with subtle crimson highlights. 

The petals have the feel of textured velvet. 

The arching branches can reach 6ft on an erect bush with very few thorns and dark green foliage. 

A healthy old rose that is sometimes found in the wild.

CHARLES (Prince Charles) (Shrub Rose) 

This lovely old medium to tall Bourbon rose has loose semi-double blooms of crimson-mauve with 

some veining in the flower. 

It is very similar to the well known Bourbon Queen. 

The stems are almost thornless and the foliage is large and deep green. 

A very handsome rose that will grow to around five feet so give it 

plenty of room. 

A good health record and excellent disease resistance. 

Summer flowering but well worth a place in any garden.

CHARLIE (Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Rose) (Shrub Rose) 

The origin of the Alba Roses is lost, but there are many ideas as to their parentage. 

With nearly single blooms, and significant anthers, the largest of the Albas has a sweet scent and 

pure white flowers. 

The attractive grey green leaves and autumn hips extend the season. 

Sometimes offered as simply 'Semi Plena' rosarians are divided over its worthiness. Some feel it is 

under rated and others feel that other Albas far outshine it. 

It was introduced into the UK by invading Roman armies and shares the honour with a simple 

white Alba as the 'White Rose Of York' 

Still grown in Bulgaria for attar.

CHARLOTTE (English Rose. David Austin) 

Soft yellow and beautifully arranged deeply cupped blooms. A little smaller than the usual David 

Austin rose but is a superb little rose. 

Repeat flowers extremely well and is very highly recommended. 

The growth is compact, bushy and rather upright. 

All in all one of the most beautiful of the English Roses, and also for areas with particularly cold 

winters, one of the hardiest.

Good dark red bedding roses are hard to come by but this little beauty fits the bill. 

Dark red velvety blooms throughout the summer until the first frosts. The blooms hold their colour 

well and don't fade in the sun, and are not damaged by rain.

An easy to grow variety with a distinct spicy fragrance.

What a beauty this rose is, one of the finest red roses around. 

Named for the Parisian fashion designer, the large, well formed, bright crimson, double blooms 

of this rose have a lighter underside and a high centred and pointed shape, although some open 

out into a cupped form. 

The exhibition standard blooms flower with great freedom, and these displays are repeated 

throughout the summer. It makes a bushy plant with leathery, glossy green foliage. 

Quite a good health record but can be subject to a little powdery mildew, but can be kept under control quite easily. 

With its long stems it makes an excellent rose for cutting.

large, creamy-white flowers of typical English Musk delicacy ; their petals are perfectly arranged 

in concentric circles, with a few more loosely arranged in the centre. 

They have a strong fragrance based on myrrh with dashes of meadowsweet, vanilla and heliotrope. 

It forms an elegant, arching shrub with plentiful, medium green foliage. It is a strong and particularly

This sweet briar rose has white, semi double blooms that are edged with rose carmine, and 

have a strong apple scent. 

The summer flowers look their best in shade. 

This is a vigorous bush that will reach 5ft high and is a good rose for the woodland garden 

and also makes an attractive hedge. 

It was found in a hedgerow in Cheshire by the Reverend C.Wolley-Dod. 

Although only summer flowering, well worth growing for the summer display plus the bonus of ornamental hips in 

autumn. Both the flowers and the foliage are scented.

She escaped his advances by changing into a laurel, which afterwards became his favourite tree.

'Darcey Bussell' is believed to be one of the best and healthiest English red roses to date. 

The flowers are not excessively large, but are produced freely and with excellent continuity. 

When young, their outer petals form a perfect ring, later developing into a beautiful rosette. 

The colour is a deep rich crimson that takes on a tinge of mauve just before the petals drop. 

It has a pleasing, fruity fragrance with just a hint of green.

DOROTHY (Dorothy Perkins) (Rambling Rose) 

This rose was very popular from day one, in part because it has always done well in a wide 

range of climates. 

'Dorothy Perkins' is only summer flowering but has masses of rose pink blooms which appear 

in huge clusters. 

Glossy dark green foliage which can have a tendency for mildew but can be kept under control 

quite easily. 

The prickly flexible branches are easy to train, but when left to itself, the rose can ramble 

over barns, banks and buildings, but not for the smaller garden as it can reach 20ft or more in a single growing season. 

If you are looking for a rose to cover an unsightly building, try this one. 

There is now a mildew free cultivar named 'Super Dorothy' 

Fragrant. 

Named for the grand daughter of the founder of the nursery firm Jackson & Perkins. 

DOROTHY (Super Dorothy) (Rambling Rose) 

This rose causes plenty of interest whenever it is seen. 

The blooms are similar to those of 'Dorothy Perkins', but it continues to bloom throughout the 

summer and autumn, where 'Dorothy Perkins' is only summer flowering. 

The pink blooms come in small clusters and last well on the bush. 

It is not quite as vigorous as 'Dorothy Perkins' , but this does not matter because of the freedom 

of flower. 

'Super Dorothy' has become popular in Europe since its introduction, and has now been introduced 

into the USA and Australia. 

It looks wonderful on pillars, tripods and arbours as its repeat flowering habit provides colour for much longer than 

any other rambling rose. 

A good healthy rose with a pleasant perfume. 

DOUGLAS (Floribunda Rose) 

A lovely new Floribunda with masses of luminous vermilion blooms all summer long. 

The petite blooms are perfectly formed and nicely spaced on handsome trusses. 

An attractive rose with an abundance of mid green and healthy glossy foliage which sets the 

blooms off to perfection. 

Best in a nice sunny position, and dead head regularly to promote faster re-blooming.

EDRIC (Wild Edric) (English Rose, David Austin) 

This is an unusually tough, healthy and reliable rose that is excellent for borders, as well as semiwild 

positions, hedges and partial shade. 

The flowers start as attractively pointed, purple pink buds that gradually open to a semi-double 

flower of deep velvety pink with shades of purple and mauve, exposing a prominent bunch of 

golden-yellow stamens. 

The overall fragrance is strong and delicious, a combination of pure clove from the stamens and 

Old Rose from the petals, with hints of watercress and cucumber. 

It was the 2006 winner at the Pencoed Trials in South Wales where the roses are never sprayed. 

Wild Edric was a Saxon Lord from Shropshire whose ghost is still, some believe, seen riding across the hills looking 

for his fairy wife. 

EGLANTYNE (English Rose. David Austin) 

One of the most beautiful of the English roses. 

Perfectly formed soft pink flowers: the petals turning up a little at the edges to form an almost saucer 

like shape. The growth is ideal, being of a medium height, bushy and twiggy with nice foliage 

and pretty healthy. 

Sweetly scented with a charming and delicate old rose fragrance. Ideal for cutting and will last 

well in water. 

Named after Eglantyne Jebb a charitable Shropshire lady who founded the Save The Children 

Fund during the time of the first world war.

This variety is a strong, vigorous bush with excellent dense, glossy dark green foliage. 

The foliage acts as a foil to the huge, magnificently formed yellow blooms. 

The blooms which are often 6ins across and have 35 petals, last particularly well when picked and 

are beautiful at all stages of development from bud to full bloom. 

The huge blooms are perfect subjects for the exhibition bench. The first flush is a little later than 

most varieties, a bonus that extends the spring flowering season, and the flower production is excellent 

for the rest of the season. A particularly healthy variety which is an ideal rose for cutting.

This remarkable variety has maintained its popularity for over 50 years. 

It bears large pointed medium pink blooms that have a high centre. 

They appear throughout the summer and autumn and are double, with 38 petals. 

A vigorous plant that with light pruning, develops into an impressive shrub reaching around 8ft or 

even more. 

Every few years it can be cut down hard to rejuvenate it and produce nice new growth. 

It has large , dark green, leathery foliage, and is an ideal rose for the back of the border, a specimen 

rose, or a substantial and colourful hedge. 

The late Queen Mother granted her permission for her name to be associated with this rose on condition that it 

should be named in full - 'The Queen Elizabeth Rose'

ELIZABETH (Sister Elizabeth) (English Rose. David Austin) 

A charming little rose of low, rounded growth, which arches and branches freely to form a neat 

mound. The rose pink flowers have a distinct lilac tinge and are of similar character to an Old 

Rose, each being a perfect rosette with a button eye at the centre. 

They have a strong sweet, spicy, Old Rose fragrance. 

An excellent rose for the front of the border, where it will mingle beautifully with perennials. 

It is also ideal as a hedge or can be grown in a large container. 

Sister Elizabeth is a Cistercian nun from the Holy Cross Abbey in Whitland, South Wales. She has 

long been a great rose lover. 

ELLEN (Ellen Willmott) (Shrub Rose) 

One of our favourite old roses. Single blooms in clusters of cream laced with pink, plus exquisite 

stamens of claret. 

A strong healthy bush with dark green leathery foliage. Quite a stunning rose. 

Highly Recommended. Fruity Fragrance. 

W.E.B. Archer produced some excellent single large flowered roses in the 1930s and this was one 

of his best. 

It was named after Miss Willmott of Warley Place in Essex famous for her book 'The Genus Rosa' 

and for her gardens at Warley Place and in the south of France; at one stage she employed 65 gardeners. 

As time went on, however, the never-married Miss Willmott became a little odd and cantankerous. 

She bought properties in France and Italy, and built gardens there, so that at one time she had more than 65 gardeners 

on her pay-roll. She was arrested for shop-lifting (the charges were eventually dropped), took to carrying a revolver 

in her handbag and booby-trapped her daffodil fields to deter bulb thieves. When she died in 1934 she was 

penniless and her estate, with the garden where once 100,000 species from all over the world had been expertly cultivated, 

was sold to a developer to pay her debts. 

EMANNUELLE (Climbing Rose) 

Large salmon pink classic hybrid tea type blooms. 

A really lovely rose that has a spectacular show early summer and a steady succession of 

blooms right through until autumn. The high centred blooms open gracefully and last quite 

some while on the plant. Well furnished with large semi glossy foliage. 

A good rose for training up walls, pillars and pergolas etc. 

A good rose for cutting as the blooms last very well in water. Delicious fragrance.

This is a very robust and free flowering rose, bearing large, rosette shaped flowers that are cupped 

at first, the petals later reflexing. 

The colour is apricot, paling to cream on the outer petals, the whole flower paling to cream with age. 

The blooms are produced very freely in large clusters, elegantly poised on the end of slightly arching 

stems. Is also shade tolerant. 

They have a delightful Tea Rose fragrance. Named for "The Crocus Trust" .

EMILY (Emily Gray) (Rambling Rose) 

A popular lovely old rambler has deep gold flowers infused with buff shades and with yellow 

stamens. 

The blooms are borne in clusters, and although it is only summer flowering it occasionally repeats 

later in the season. Quite a stunning rose in full bloom. One of the healthiest of all the 

yellow ramblers. 

It has dark, glossy bronze foliage on an extremely vigorous plant with pliable canes. 

A good rose for pergolas and arches and for growing into trees. 

Will tolerate a North wall and partial shade, Fragrant. 

Winner of the National Rose Society Gold Medal. 

Bred by Dr A H Williams who named this rose after his sister. 

EMMA (Lady Emma Hamilton) (English Rose. David Austin) 

Quite a bright colour for an English Rose but very useful for creating a little excitement in the 

border. 

The tight buds are a most wonderful dark red with dashes of orange. When fully open the flowers 

are a lovely mixture of a rich, almost tangerine-orange with a more yellow-orange back to the petals; 

the whole is set off against the very dark, bronzy green leaves. 

A fairly upright but bushy shrub of medium height that flowers freely and remains healthy. 

A strong delicious fruity fragrance, with hints of pear, grape and citrus fruits. Won first price at the 

fragrance trials in Nantes. 

Named after Horatio Nelson's lover to commemorate the Battle Of Trafalgar. 

ENA (Ena Harkness) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

An outstanding velvety-red hybrid tea rose. Very free flowering and vigorous. 

Attractive leathery foliage. This variety was bred for cool climates where blooms can be of the 

highest exhibition quality. 

It has the true Damask perfume of its parent 'Crimson Glory' and has been grown all over the 

world since the 1950s 

Excellent disease resistance. Highly Recommended. Powerful Fragrance. 

A very famous rose which was bred by an amateur, Albert Norman who was later to become president 

of the National Rose Society. Introduced by the Harkness family and named after the prominent flower arranger.

Double mauve pink blooms in large panicles. 

Attractive greyish-green foliage. 

Very vigorous and healthy and ideal for scrambling over arches or large structures as it can

EVA (Shrub Rose) 

This superb shrub rose is used extensively in landscape planting, bears huge panicles of 75 or 

more flowers. 

They are semi double and carmine red in colour with a white centre that lights up the flower. 

Flowering is continuous throughout the summer if spent blooms are removed, but if they are left 

on the bush a wonderful crop of unusually pinkish red hips are produced in large clusters, which 

are ideal for flower arranging. 

'Eva' has large. lush disease free foliage on a vigorous healthy bush.. 

A great bedding rose for the back of the border.

EVE (Wild Eve) (English Rose. David Austin) 

This is a particularly robust and healthy rose, producing long arching branches that flower very 

freely. 

The flower buds are blush pink at first, opening to flowers of blush touched with apricot. They 

have a perfect rosette shape and are distinctly quartered. 

'Wild Eve' has many of the features of a good ground cover rose, combined with all the quality of 

flower of an English Rose. It is vigorous enough to be grown on a post and rail fence. A superb 

variety worthy of a prime position that will still flower well in less than ideal conditions.

It has a pleasing fresh fragrance of medium strength. 

EVELYN (English Rose. David Austin) 

Particularly large, apricot and pink flowers of shallow, saucer like formation, with numerous petals 

which gradually re-curve to form a rosette shape. Needs a good fertile soil to perform well in the 

UK but a bit of TLC pays off handsomely. 

It has a wonderful fragrance similar in style to an Old Rose, but with a sumptuous fruity note 

reminiscent of fresh peaches an apricot. 

Named for Crabtree & Evelyn who used it in their range of rose perfumes. 

EVITA (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

Creamy buds open to beautiful high centred blooms of white with a yellow tinge in the centre. 

A tall stately rose which creates a commanding presence in the garden and continues throughout 

the summer. Withstands wet weather better than most white roses and has a pleasant perfume. 

Very large blooms on strong upright stems which make it a lovely rose for cutting.

FELICIA (Shrub Rose) 

Delicate soft pink and cream blooms fading to almost white. 

Flowering is most prolific in the spring, but is a little less so in summer. However the late 

summer and autumn show is quite something as the flowers are borne in huge panicles bearing 

the most highly coloured and longest lasting flowers of the year. 

If the spent flowers are not removed, large round red hips are produced which look most 

attractive among the autumn flowers. Good strong disease resistant foliage. 

Can really brighten up a dull autumn day. Shade tolerant and makes a good hedge

One of the outstanding old garden Damask roses. 

This lovely old shrub rose has large cupped blooms of breathtaking beauty. 

The blooms are carried in clusters and solitarily all over the bush in the summer. 

Almost pure white in colour with a green central pip the flowers have a superb perfume and are 

carried on an elegant bush of vigorous growth. 

Very easy to grow. 

A good health record and exceptional disease resistance. 

Has been described as one of the most beautiful roses ever bred. 


Bred by Alexandre Hardy and named after his wife Felicite. 

He was an amateur rose breeder and the chief horticulturist at the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris for many years.

FELICITE (Felicite Et Perpetue) (Rambling Rose) 

A vigorous rambler bearing large clusters of creamy white globular blooms. 

A very popular rambler because of its vigour and disease resistance. It is happy in any weather 

and resents pruning. 

A fantastic sight when in full bloom. Flowers early to mid July and is almost evergreen. 

Suitable for growing up into a tree. 

It was found recently on Alcatraz, the prison island, climbing old walls without any assistance 

years after it was planted. Highly Recommended. Delicate primrose fragrance. 

Named after St Felicity and St Perpetua who were early Christian martyrs.

FERDINAND (Ferdinand Pichard) (Shrub Rose) 

A lovely old flamboyant rose with a blooms of blush pink, carmine and crimson, with stripes of 

reddish purple reminiscent of an impressionist painting. 

Luscious pale lettuce green foliage sets off the blooms to perfection and is often described as 

one of the most attractive of the striped varieties. Repeat flowers well in flushes through the 

season and pretty versatile as it will grow in most areas plus poorer soils. Can grow upwards of 

4ft and will make a short climber with a bit of support. Plant in full sun and dead head 

regularly for best results. Has very few problems and is quite disease resistant and easy to grow, 

Given the Award Of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society. One of our most popular shrub roses, and one 

of the best of the striped roses. The lovely perfume which has been described as freshly picked raspberries and Damask. 

A stunning rose which makes a very glamorous and perfumed cut flower. 

Best lightly pruned in late winter or early spring. To encourage new young growth, prune back a few of the oldest 

stems each year. 

There is some disagreement as to whether this is a Hybrid Perpetual or Bourbon rose. The distinguished horticulturist 

Graham Thomas listed it as a Bourbon and often wore a bloom in his buttonhole. Bred in France by Remi Tanne 

1921 Most modern striped roses descend from Ferdinand Pichard.

FIFI (Floribunda Rose) 

An extremely pretty dwarf floribunda which is smothered in attractive blooms of pink and apricot 

shades. 

A very feminine rose which repeats well and has a superb perfume. 

A Recognised Exhibition Variety. 

May need a little TLC to get the best results but well worth the effort, 

Not very big so will be quite happy in the garden or container. 

FIONA (Shrub Rose) 

'Fiona' is a rose for all seasons. 

Dark rose red flowers that are produced continuously in well spaced clusters. 

The foliage is small, dark semi glossy and extremely free of disease on a plant with a spreading 

growth habit. 

If spent flowers are not removed an amazing display of large, round, extremely long lasting hips 

are produced that persist until late winter if they are not picked for indoor decoration. 

In autumn, flowers and hips can cover the bush at the same time and look most effective. 

a good little rose that often grows wider than it does tall.

FRANCESCA (Shrub Rose) 

'Francesca' gets its buff apricot colour from the very early large flowered rose 'Sunburst' and its spreading habit of 

growth from the shrub 'Danae' 

Beautiful pointed buds in the early stages, which produce lovely loose nodding blooms of buff apricot 

fading to cream. The blooms are borne on long sprays on a tall spreading bush with healthy 

soft green foliage. The flower production is excellent in the spring and carries on right through 

the summer and into autumn. 

An excellent shrub rose which combines well with bulbs and perennials of a similar colouring in a 

mixed border. 

In warmer areas it can retain its foliage in the winter in the manner of the Noisette Roses. 

A healthy and highly recommended shrub rose which is well worth a place in any garden. Fragrant. 

FRANCIS (Francis E Lester) (Rambling Rose) 

Beautiful large clusters of single white flowers with pink edges and golden stamens and look like 

huge heads of apple blossom. A very vigorous rambler which flowers late spring-early summer 

and is a sight to behold. Sometimes repeat flowers. The huge hips that follow the flowers also 

appear in big clusters and last right through the winter as the birds do not seem to like them. 

One of our all time favourite ramblers. 

Ideal for growing into trees where it can cascade downwards and show its huge sprays of flowers 

and hips to perfection. Can also cope with partial shade. 

Strong perfume. 

Francis E Lester was born in England but made his name as a rose grower in Watsonville. California. 

FRANCOIS (Francois Juranville) (Rambling Rose) 

A beautiful old rambler that seems to have been popular for ever. 

The bright salmon pink blooms appear in clusters over quite a long flowering period in the summer. 

The blooms are a deeper pink in the centre with a yellow base. 

Not for the small garden or the faint hearted as it can easily reach 25ft (8m) when mature. 

Upright vigorous growth with shiny dark green leaves which are tinged with bronze green at the 

edges. 

The late Jack Harkness described this rose as one of the most beautiful of the wichuraiana hybrids. 

A very versatile rose as it will tolerate shade, poor soil, will grow on a North wall, and is a excellent 

rose for rambling up trees. 

A pleasant fragrance which is reminiscent of apples. 

Often confused with 'Albertine'

FRED (Fred Loads) (Shrub/Climbing Rose) 

Enormous clusters of semi double orange-vermilion blooms at the top of extremely long canes. 

The flowers are quite something and can be 3ins across and make superb exhibition blooms and a 

real splash of colour in the garden throughout the summer. For the best show of flowers prune 

hard in the spring. 

Pruned lightly it makes an impenetrable colourful hedge, or can be trained as a small climber. 

Has an abundance of good glossy foliage and is reasonably disease resistant. 

A very popular rose with a nice perfume. Will also tolerate shade and poor soils.

FRITZ (Fritz Nobis) (Shrub Rose) 

This is one of the most beautiful roses ever raised, and seems to have every leaf, petal and flower, 

in the right place. 

A graceful arching shrub with an abundance of fresh pale pink blooms with a shade of salmon and 

even hints of cream and yellow. The blooms are borne in clusters of 20 or more and have a pleasing 

clove like fragrance. 

The arching branches are covered in leathery greyish green leaves which are extremely healthy. 

Only summer flowering but the whole effect is as beautiful as you will ever find in any rose garden. 

A splendid and easy rose to grow, which is very versatile as it can make an attractive and fragrant hedge, is tolerant of 

shade and poor soils. 

Bred by Kordes in Germany 1940. 


FULTON (Fulton Mackay) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

The beauty of this rose lies in the outstanding quality of the flowers, which open from long buds to 

classically shaped large flowered blooms with high centres, surrounded by broad re-flexing petals.

GAY (Lady Gay) (Rambling Rose) 

The breeder of 'Lady Gay' felt it was an improvement over his other creation 'Dorothy Perkins' 

but 'Lady Gay' has never achieved the popularity of its stable mate. 

The double, salmon pink blooms are small to medium sized and and appear both in sprays 

and in clusters on the long, pliable stems. 

Fragrant and proliferous the flowers resemble 'Dorothy Perkins' but have a stronger resistance 

to disease. The glossy foliage is small and dark green, and has a vigorous growth habit 

and can reach 20ft in a couple of seasons. 

Even experts find it difficult to tell the difference between the two roses, except for the fact that 'Lady Gay' is stronger 

and healthier. Summer flowering and easy to train up arches and trees etc. 

Well worth a place in any rose lovers garden; if you have the room. 

GEMMA (Floribunda Rose) 

A real rich colour with cool depths. 

Gemma has plentiful trusses of deep rose pink which are under laid with a hint of mauve. An ideal 

colour to fit into mixed summer borders. 

Healthy glossy leathery leaves anf flowers right through the season until the first frosts. 

It is not too big so will be quite happy in a container and will be quite a bold show in full bloom. 

A very healthy little rose with a pleasant fragrance.

Altogether a most reliable and excellent variety that is hardy, extremely healthy and repeat flowers 

well. A very refined rose. 

It can also be grown as a first class short climber which will climb to about 8ft and also grow on a

GERALDINE (Shrub Rose) 

The flowers of this variety are orange, of an unusually clear tone. 

Clusters of the plump buds open into double flowers of medium size, the petals in the centre 

being tightly coiled and holding this form for sometime before reflexing to form a cup. 

When taken young they are useful for small flower arrangements. Suitable for a bed, border or 

a container. 

The flowers maintain a good continuity of bloom through summer and autumn. 

The growth is upright and the is average height for a floribunda.

The growth is tall and vigorous, making it perhaps more suitable for middle or the back of the border, 

although easy access should be allowed to appreciate the particularly strong, superb and perfectly balanced 

Old Rose fragrance, the quintessential rose fragrance. 

Very healthy and reliable and is also tolerant of partial shade. 

It can also be grown as a short climber.

GHITA (Renaissance Rose) 

A new variety from the increasingly popular Renaissance Rose group. 

An attractive rose with medium pink flowers which have classic quartered centres. 

As with the rest of this group the growth is strong healthy and reliable. 

Most of the Renaissance roses are highly scented and this latest one is no exception. 

Regret we always have limited supplies so this rose is not available as Summer Pruned or a Bare Root 

Rose.

GLORIA (Gloria Mundi) (Shrub Rose) 

Officially this old rose is a Polyantha rose, but as we do not have a Polyantha section we have classed it as 

a shrub rose. 

A very popular rose for many years as it was grown in great numbers in gardens and parks around the 

world. 

Plenty of red/orange blooms throughout the season in clusters on a compact healthy bush. 

Dark green healthy foliage. Not sold in many Nurseries today, which is a shame as it is quite a colourful 

little rose which is quite versatile. 

It is quite hardy but does prefer a warm position in the garden for the best results. 

Can also be grown in a container, and is tolerant of a bit of shade and poorer soils. 

Bred in the Netherlands in 1929 

GRACE (English Rose. David Austin) 

This superb rose is a real eye-catcher. 

An excellent variety with flowers of a lovely pure apricot - darker in the middle, paler towards the 

edges, a colour that blends well with other shades, especially dark reds and purples. 

The blooms are shallowly cupped at first, slowly opening to form a perfect rosette with the outer 

petals reflexed. 

It forms a good, branching shrub that is very healthy and repeat flowers extremely well. In every 

way, an excellent garden plant. 

A delicious Tea fragrance with a warm sensuous background.

GRAHAM (Graham Thomas) (English Rose. David Austin) 

One of the best known of the English Roses, this more than any other variety was responsible for 

the popularity of the group. 

The cup shaped flowers are of medium size. Their colour is an unusually rich and pure yellow 

that would be hard to match even among Modern Roses, and is entirely missing among Old 

Roses. 

The growth is upright but bushy and vigorous and can be grown as a short climber. 

A fresh Tea Rose fragrance, with a cool violet character typical of its colour group.

This popular award winning large flowered rose has certainly stood up well against new varieties.

for their crispness of style. 

The blooms are a pleasing yellow, without any harshness of tone, while the outer petals sometimes 

carry some tinges of pink, and the open flowers can often be seen with an edged overlay of pink. 

A good bush for any garden but keep it well away from the pathway as it has many thorns. 

The mid green leaves are extremely glossy on growth that is strong and stout. Tends to get a little black spot but can 

easily be kept under control with regular spraying.

GUY (Guy’s Gold) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

A lovely new hybrid tea with blooms of bright rich canary yellow. 

Flowers earlier than most hybrid teas and repeats very quickly to ensure a good flow of blooms right 

through the season plus a pleasant perfume. 

Erect dense growth which has healthy glossy foliage which has good disease resistance. 

Stands out like a beacon in the garden and always looks fresh and cheerful and is suitable for any

HANNAH (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

This beautiful rose has been around for a while and once was considered to be one one of the best 

red roses in Northern Europe. 

That is not surprising as the parents 'Peace' and 'Ena Harkness' are also beautiful and very famous 

roses which are still popular today. 

This tall stately rose produces classic high centred blooms of crimson/scarlet which really stand 

out in the garden. 

The healthy glossy green foliage sets the blooms off to perfection. 

Flowers through the season but needs a sunny warm spot for the best results. 

A classic rose which has the added bonus of a wonderful perfume. The long stems make this a super rose for cutting.

The flowers of this rose are a delightful combination of blush and cherry pink, the petals being

are quite large when fully open and yield a pleasant light fragrance, 

Because the clusters are well spaced and each flower has room to display itself, the overall effect

Named after one of Britain's most successful nurserymen who lived from 1898 to 1977, and whose extrovert behaviour

Has never been a popular rose which is a great shame, as it is very beautiful and is one of the 

easiest of the lilac-pink roses to grow. 

The flowers are large and full petalled, often carried 3 to a stem, and open with high centres, 

becoming rounded and cupped as the petals reflex. 

They have an excellent fragrance and the blooms continue to appear through summer and 

autumn. For those who like unusual colours this is a useful rose to grow as a group in a mixed 

border. 

Makes a good cut flower as the blooms last well in water. Needs a warm spot to produce the best colour. 

The plant grows strongly with a branching habit to around average height, and bears large dark green leaves. 

Named after the late secretary of the Royal National Rose Society.

HARRY (Harry Wheatcroft) See Harry 

HELEN (Helen Knight) (Shrub Rose) 

This rose bears 5 petalled, saucer shaped, bright yellow flowers of small to medium size. 

They appear in profusion in late spring or early summer to create a picture of beauty against, arching, 

reddish stems and light green, fern like foliage. 

It should be only summer flowering, but for many years we have seen quite a good show of blooms 

later in the year. 

It is one of the first roses to bloom in the spring and heralds the new rose season. 

The plant can be grown as a free standing shrub, and is best left to grow naturally without having to be 

pruned, apart from the removal of dead or crossing branches. It can also be trained upwards against a wall as it tends 

to grow taller and wider than the average shrub rose. 

Although it is hardy, it is best to avoid a very frosty position. 

Named after the wife of Frank Knight of the Royal Horticultural Society Gardens at Wisley. 


HELMUT (Helmut Schmidt) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

The large pointed buds of this variety give promise of big flowers to come, and they are beauties. 

The urn shaped young blooms develop high centres around which the outer petals are arranged 

with wonderful symmetry. 

They usually appear one per strong, upright stem, which makes the variety an excellent cutting 

rose, especially as the blooms hold their shape and last well in water. 

It is a good rose for general garden use, flowering on through summer and autumn though tending 

to produce a flush of bloom followed by a pause. 

The plant grows neat and upright to slightly below average height, with matt green foliage.

the colours of raspberries and rose. 

A good healthy rose with a wonderful perfume. 

Named after the late Henri Matisse 1869 - 1954. 

HENRIETTA (Henrietta Barnett) Floribunda Rose) 

A lovely new Floribunda with masses of blooms which are quite unusual. The opening buds are 

tinted light lime green before opening to glowing amber, in a subtle and distinctive colour change. 

Looks superb as a single specimen or in groups and can also be grown in a large container. 

Good repeat flowering habit and a superb myrrh scent. Makes a good cut flower. 

Henrietta Barnett was a visionary philanthropist who founded the Hampstead Garden Suburb 

Institute . 1851-1936 

HERMIONE (Gentle Hermione) (English Rose. David Austin) 

Perfectly formed flowers of true Old Rose character. Lovely soft blush pink petals on the outside 

with pure pink at the centre. An attractive shrub rose of medium height and the blooms 

are 

particularly resistant to rain. 

A strong classic old rose perfume with a hint of myrrh. 

Hermione was the faithful wife of Leontes, the King of Sicilia and mother of Perdita in

A low growing bushy compact and very free flowering floribunda. Large trusses of deep red 

blooms are carried all season. 

Good strong healthy growth and a superb addition to any garden. Can also be grown in a container.

HUGH (Hugh Dickson) (Shrub Rose) 

Has been popular for over 100 years especially as a cut flower and a bedding rose. 

The thick round buds open to show enormous dark red high centred blooms containing 38 petals. 

The enormous blooms are carried erect on long stems and the large, rounded petals open to reveal 

an exposed centre. 

It likes sun but will cope with shade, flowers all summer and produces a lovely harvest of autumn 

blooms. 

The thick stems are covered with foliage that is red when young and turns green as it ages. 

A very useful rose as it can be grown as a specimen in the garden, can be easily trained as a short climber, and also 

makes a very attractive scented hedge. For the very best results it need dead heading regularly, but will still thrive if 

left to its own devices. Superb perfume. 

Named for the son of the founder of the famous Dickson nursery. 

HUSBAND (My Darling Husband) (Floribunda Rose) 

A very attractive new floribunda rose with masses of blooms of rich apricot with a hint of ivory. 

Flowers throughout the season and well into the autumn and the first frosts. 

Quite happy in the garden or container and has an excellent health record. 

Keep it fed and watered well, dead head regularly and it will keep blooming with hardly a break. 

An excellent rose with a lovely sweet spicy fragrance. 

Very limited stocks this year so order early. 

Something a little different. 

INGRID (Floribunda Rose) 

This lovely little rose was bred in Canada and is called a Mini Flora over there. 

A little bigger than a Patio rose and smaller than the average Floribunda, we have listed it under 

Floribunda's to save any confusion. 

The small exhibition quality blooms are high centred and just like tiny HT blooms. The colour 

is red with a yellow flush down to the bottom of the petals. 

A very free flowering little rose that will go on blooming right through the summer into autumn. 

A very healthy and hardy little rose which looks great in a bed or container and has a very good 

perfume for such a small rose. The breeder rates this little stunner very highly and thinks this is 

one of the best he has bred. 

Best planted in a sunny position and dead headed regularly The only downside is that it has slightly more thorns 

that usual. 

Bred by George Mander in Canada who named the rose after is wife. 

INGRID (Ingrid Bergman) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

This wonderful rose has been acclaimed in rose trials all over the world, which gives a 

good indication of its performance. 

The high quality blooms are velvet red, fully double and hold their colour well, and 

the new flowering shoots appear freely after each flush of bloom. It has vigorous upright 

growth and dark green leathery leaves. A superb strong rose which is almost 

entirely disease resistant. 

Worth a place in every rose garden as it gives so much pleasure.

This rose which is hardier than many Chinas, has long apricot buds that reveal pale pink , double 

blooms with large petals and a button eye. When fully open the flowers resemble large 

carnations. 

Small dark green leaves cover a bushy, short, low growing shrub that usually reaches 2ft (60cm) 

This beautiful rose does well in the garden or a container, as is also very effective as a low hedge.

May need a bit of TLC to get the best results but is well worth the effort for the blooms. 

A real stunner in bloom with a terrific perfume. 

IRIS (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

A lovely new rose with classic hybrid tea shaped blooms which looks a real winner. 

Intense coral pink blooms, which are borne singly and in clusters, which helps to maintain a 

long lasting and colourful display. 

Plenty of blooms right through the season and they are all a good shape and colour. 

Upright bushy growth, with abundant large, dark green glossy foliage. 

A super rose for cutting as the stunning blooms last well in water and fill the room with their 

lovely perfume. 

A great rose for the garden with its stunning colour, and not too tall so should do well in a container.

ISABEL (Renaissance Rose) 

This lovely variety has healthy strong upright growth and produces deep red blooms with an old 

fashioned look 

Another classic rose in the Renaissance group which are becoming increasingly popular over 

recent years. 

As with most of this variety it has a good long flowering period and plenty of blooms right 

through to the autumn. 

The young foliage is bronze red and maturing to glossy deep green. 

Probably one of the most popular of the group. 

Highly Scented. Also know as "Isabella" 

ISABELLA See Isabel. 

IVOR (Ivor’s Rose) (Shrub Rose) 

Lovely large fully double blooms of cerise red. 

A continuous flowering variety with upright growth and healthy foliage. 

We have only had it a couple os seasons and have been amazed and delighted with the 

bloom production. 

When it comes into bloom it is a real show stopper with its huge and plentiful blooms that 

seem to last forever. 

Looks well as a specimen rose and also makes a good hedge. 

Once the blooms are spent, dead head to promote more and keep this handsome plant 

tidy.

JACK (Black Jack) (Patio Rose) 

A tough little rose with plenty of very dark red blooms and attractive golden stamens. 

The blooms are quite large for such a small rose and are shaped like miniature hybrid tea 

blooms. 

Looks super planted in a group in the garden or can also be grown in a container. 

Bred in the USA. Recognised Exhibition Variety. 

Small dark green foliage, plus a pleasant fragrance. 

As with many dark red roses may need a little TLC to get the best results. 

Dead head regularly to promote further blooms. 

JACK (Jack’s Wish) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

Stunning large salmon orange blooms are almost fluorescent against the dark shiny foliage. 

A very healthy rose with plenty of blooms throughout the summer and into autumn. 

Quite a show stopper in full bloom and really stands out in the crowd. 

Quite a lot of blooms for a hybrid tea so keep it tidy by dead heading regularly. 

Makes a good cut flower as the showy blooms fill the room with colour and last well in water. 

Prune quite hard in the spring to get the best results .

Not a powerful perfume, but very pleasant. 

A very popular rose so it is often in short supply. 

JACKIE (Little Jackie) (Patio Rose) 

The flowers on this award winning rose are light orange-red with a yellow reverse. 

The florets are double, with more than 20 petals, and have outstanding exhibition style large

JACQUES (Jacques Cartier) (Shrub Rose) 

The flowers of this rose develop from firm buds with feathery sepals and are borne in tight clusters. 

They open to fully double and quartered flowers often with button eyes. The large blooms are 

often up to 3ins (8cm) across and are a lovely shade of soft pink. The blooms are produced in 

succession from mid summer to late autumn. 

It is an upright sturdy shrub rose growing up to 4ft (1.2m) high, occasionally throwing up a 

taller shoot up to 5ft(1.5m) or more. The stems are stout and strong with ample thorns. 

The foliage is light green when young, deepening to a blue-green with age and sometimes crinkly. This excellent rose 

makes both a good bedding variety and a fine scented hedge. Good Fragrance.

Neat, perfectly formed flowers that are warm pink at the centre, paling to blush at the 

edges. 

It forms a large strong healthy shrub and is excellent as a climber.

JAMES (Bobbie James. (Rambling Rose) 

A vigorous multiflora rambler bearing huge sprays of of small semi-double, creamy white 

flowers with brilliant yellow stamens. The large clusters are borne on long, thin, prickly 

canes, and full of healthy glossy leaves with coppery edges. Very popular and ideal for 

growing up through trees where it is a fabulous sight in full bloom. 

Although it is only summer flowering it is a very memorable event when the large clusters 

open and the extremely fragrant perfume permeates the garden. 

'Bobbie James' was introduced by Graham Stuart Thomas, who named it in honour of the 

renowned Yorkshire horticulturist. An ever popular variety.

JASMINA (Climbing Rose) 

One of the nicest little climbers we have seen for a while. 

As it only grows to about 6-7 feet it could almost be classed as a Patio Climber. 

From Kordes the German rose breeders this super little climber is smothered in absolutely 

masses of large cupped blooms of violet-pink all summer long. 

The blooms come in clusters of ten to fifteen blooms at a time, and as it is only short is ideal for 

areas where space is limited. The slightly glossy foliage has excellent disease resistance. 

Will probably be fine in a large container providing it is fed and watered well. 

The biggest bonus is the superb sweet fragrance which is very unusual in a short climber. 

This little cracker is a Gold and Silver Medal Winner in International competitions and will no doubt win the hearts 

of the English market very soon. 

JEAN (Patio Rose) 

A low growing rose with masses of attractive peach pink flowers on a tidy compact bush. 

Flowers througout the season and always seems to be in flower.

This lovely compact shrub has small warm pink blooms which hold their colour and form well in

JOEY (Just Joey) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

This beautiful award winning rose has been popular for over thirty years and will stay that way 

for many years to come. It has big, loose double flowers that are an orange blend, usually in 

small clusters. 

They are well recommended for cutting as the blooms last well in water and are quite a show 

on display in the home. 

They have a good long flowering period and will keep on flowering as long as dead heading is 

done regularly. 

The bush is sprawling and grows to medium height, while the leaves are dark green and 

healthy.

It is hard to compare 'Just Joey' with other large flowered roses, as the richness of the flower and the looseness of the

JOHN (John Hopper) (Shrub Rose) 

A compact Hybrid Perpetual, this variety has bright rose blooms edged in lilac. 

The large, cupped, double flowers have 70 petals each with a carmine centre; the outer petals 

fade with age. 

They appear on short stems, they are very fragrant and cover the shrub in summer; there is 

some autumn repeat. 

The 4ft (1.2m) stems create an erect and bushy plant, and are covered with large leaves and light 

red, hooked prickles. 

It should be dead headed to encourage autumn blooms. 

A very useful shrub rose as it makes a lovely specimen rose, and also makes a very effective and fragrant hedge. 

Bred by Robert Ward in the UK who named this rose after a good friend. 

JOHN (Old John) (Floribunda Rose) 

This beautiful vibrant and fiery orange red cluster flowered rose was named as a tribute to 

John Mattock, who has spent a lifetime in growing roses in the UK. 

Its blooms come in medium sized clusters of 5-10 and are shown off well against the dark 

green foliage. 

The golden yellow stamens give a value added effect when the blooms are fully open. 

A nice compact and desirable rose with a good long flowering period, good health and a 

lovely perfume. 

Bred by Dickson's of N.Ireland who have bred masses of beautiful roses over many years. 

A very popular rose which is due to its eye catching colour and its novel name.

JOSEPH (Archiduc Joseph) (Shrub Rose) 

There has been much controversy over this rose as it has been incorrectly labelled as 

'Monsieur Tillier' and vice versa as the two plants are very similar in appearance. 

The buds of 'Archiduc Joseph' are dark pink, opening lighter and then turning copper, with 

strong pink overtones as well. 

The thin stems with glossy foliage are sometimes not strong enough to hold the quartered 

bloom upright. 

Colours vary depending on the weather and the location. The petals become purple/orange in 

humid climates, but rose and pink in dry, hot weather, 

The stems are brownish red with dark ashy green leaves. Continuous flowering. 

A vigorous and unusual rose worth a place in any rose lovers garden. 

Scented. 

Named after Archduke Joseph of Austro-Hungary who was a scholar and agricultural reformer who was also a great 

plant collector. 

JOSEPH (Joseph’s Coat) (Shrub/Climbing Rose) 

Best described as a yellow and red blend . 

The blooms open out flat to reveal multi coloured blooms and lovely yellow/gold stamens. 

Repeat flowering and a dazzling show when in full bloom. 

Good disease resistance and will brighten up any garden. 

Possibly best grown as a climber. 

It is best suited to being layered out for the maximum amount of bloom.

We have re-introduced this rose as we have had so many requests for it this season. 

Lovely dark red blooms which repeat well right through the season. It has a very strong 

fragrance which is possibly the reason for so many requests. 

Highly recommended for its colour but does need a bit of loving care and attention. 

Prone to a bit of mildew later in the season but that can be kept under control with spraying. 

JOSEPHINE (Empress Josephine) (Shrub Rose) 

The origin of this beautiful old rose is so shrouded in mystery that it has collected numerous 

names. It is also known as 'Souvenir de L'Imperatrice' 'The Frankfurt Rose'. and 

'Francofurtana' It was named to honour Napoleon's first wife, who was really the patroness of 

old roses. 

The blooms are large and loosely shaped. Rich pink and veined with deeper shades. 

The foliage is course and greyish and fairly clean. 

Only summer flowering and followed by large hips. Very beautiful and excellent as a cut 

flower. 

It prefers the shade in warm areas and may need support. Shade tolerant and will cope with poor soils. 

Slightly scented. 


JOY (Mothers Joy) (Floribunda Rose) 

Masses of delicate soft pink blooms on this lovely new floribunda. Flowers throughout the season 

and well into the autumn. 

The blooms are huge and real show stoppers . 


Quite happy in the garden or a large container.

With a name like this it is sure to prove very popular.

JOY (My Joy) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

This stunning hybrid tea has been around a while but is still as popular as ever in the exhibition 

world. 

My Joy has large exhibition quality blooms of fuschia pink with a silvery reverse. 

The perfectly formed blooms are nearly always borne one bloom to a stem. 

The long lasting flowers are supported on lengthy stems and a superb rose for cutting. 

Requires a warm spot and full sun to get the best show of blooms. 

Likes a bit of TLC so dead head regularly and feed twice a year and the results are well worth 

the extra effort. 

The large blooms are a real eye catcher in any garden plus the bonus of a pleasant perfume.

This is a most popular rose, no doubt because of its unusual colouring. 

The flowers are various shades of copper, parchment and brown, all mixed in to a handsome 

tone that intensifies dramatically in cool to cold conditions. There is also a slight 

hint of blue, which is not surprising as one of the parents are the ever popular 'Blue Moon' 

'Julia's Rose' has a place in every collection although it is not the strongest of growers and 

needs plenty of TLC but the rewards are there if you make the extra effort. 

Flowers well for most of the season and has handsome reddish foliage, the combination being the flower arrangers 

dream. 

Not a strong perfume but very pleasant.

The foliage is matt green and compliments the blooms perfectly. 

Can be grown in the garden or a container. 

Plant in full sun and a little TLC will repay the kindness. 

A wide variation in colour has been detected to varying climates. 

Not a strong perfume but very pleasing. 

KIM (Floribunda Rose) 

This variety has flowers that are large in proportion to the plant, having over 30 petals: they open 

from clusters of plump buds into rounded flowers of canary yellow and become cupped as the petals 

reflex, then admit flushes of pink as they age, to a marked degree in hot weather. 

The blooms are carried quite close to the foliage, giving the plant a compact appearance, and they 

repeat their flowers with good continuity through the summer and autumn. 

There is a pleasant light fragrance, and the flowers open cleanly in all weathers. 

'Kim' is good for small spaces of every kind, to edge a bed or in a container. 

The growth is compact and bushy, much shorter than the average bush rose, and the plant is well provided with 

small, matt mid-green leaves.

Light green glossy foliage but does need a little spraying to keep it clean.

LOUISE (Louise Odier) (Shrub Rose) 

One of the best bourbon roses and very popular. 

Lovely old fashioned large blooms of mid pink throughout the summer and is one of the most 

floriferous of the Old Garden Roses Very free flowering and reliable. 

The tall arching canes are covered with soft, olive green leaves and maroon prickles and has 

good disease resistance. 

A very useful rose as iit makes an excellent rose for cutting and can also be trained as a climber 

and will tolerate some shade.

soil and has a lovely fragrance.

LUCY (Floribunda) 

A superb new little rose with blooms of bright orange with a yellow reflex. 

Quite a startling colour combination and no picture can do it justice. 

Masses of flowers with excellent continuity of bloom which will really brighten up any garden 

and keep blooming until the first frosts. 

Not very big so will be quite happy in a container and makes a fine specimen with its dazzling 

blooms. 

This colour always does best in full sun, and needs dead heading regularly to promote further

Not widely known as its introduction coincided with the beginning of World War II.

semi-double with white at the base of the petals. 

Unlike many old ramblers 'Blushing Lucy' flowers right through the summer and into 

the autumn. 

It has dense glossy foliage which is quite healthy vigorous and disease free.

'Luscious Lucy', what a super name for this little beauty.

A very famous and popular rose and rightly so.

This is a remarkable rose, as its many awards testify. 

The double, high centred, white flowers have a faint blush tint in the centre, plus attractive

It is large for a cluster flowered rose, being up to 4ins (10cm) across. 

The petals have very heavy substance and are extremely fragrant. 

The abundant handsome foliage is big and glossy and the leaves come very close to the flower, 

giving a high shouldered effect that shows the crisp flowers to perfection. 

It is at its best in cooler climates, but will tolerate a wide range of climates. 

It is a superb bedding rose.

MARGARETA (Crown Princess Margareta) (English Rose. David Austin) 

With vigorous growth and arching habit this variety needs plenty of room. The superb large 

apricot-orange blooms are quite stunning, and there are plenty of them. 

Being a member of the Leander Group of roses it is very reliable and will thrive even under more 

rigorous conditions and will also cope with partial shade. 

As always with the David Austin range the perfume is quite exquisite. 

With support can also be grown as a climber. 

Named after Princess Margaret of Connaught 1882-1920 who was the grand daughter of Queen 

Victoria and an accomplished landscape gardener. 

MARIE (Marie Louise) (Shrub Rose) 

Thought by some to have originated in Princess Josephine's Malmaison garden around 1811 to 

1813. 

This lovely old Damask rose is early flowering and is pink with mauve overtones, and the blooms 

fade to white as they age. 

The double blooms are flat with a button eye and are borne in fairly large clusters on the ends of 

arching branches. 

The branches are often weighted to the ground by the size and sheer number of blooms, especially 

in rain. 

It is a lax shrub with moderately thorny branches and profuse foliage. 

It is a tough old rose that will grow in poor soils, and has been known to survive years of neglect. 

Can be grown in the garden or container. 

Only summer flowering but has a delicious perfume and is a 'must have' in any rose lovers garden. 

Named after Marie Louise . Duchess Of Parma. She was the second wife of Napoleon Bonaparte. 

MARIE (Princess Marie) (Climbing Rose) 

This rose is from the same stable as 'Princess Louise' and others created by Jacques. 

Bright pink to lilac cupped flowers in large cascading clusters are a beautiful sight in mid 

-summer. 

Dark green foliage on long pliable stems with very few thorns. 

Does not like too much heat and will grow on a North wall but does prefer good rich soil. 

Healthy and disease resistant. Lovely fragrance.

MARIE (Rose Marie Viaud) (Rambling Rose) 

The attraction of this lovely old rambler is its rich purple red colour, embracing tones from 

cerise and lilac to greyish violet as the flowers fade. 

They are borne in sprays of full petalled small rosettes on vigorous plants which can reach 15ft 

Ideal for growing up any structure or a tree. 

Light green foliage and almost thornless. 

Only summer flowering but every rose enthusiast should grow this in their garden. 

Light Scent. 

Bred in France 1924. 

A seedling of Veilchenblau. 

MARILYN (Marilyn Monroe) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

To remember a legend like Marilyn the rose has to be something extraordinary. 

Long pointed buds open to superb large blooms of soft apricot with a pale lime wash on the outer 

petals. 

A strong sturdy rose with dark green leathery foliage and good disease resistance. 

Repeats well, and flowers well into the autumn. 

One of the most beautiful roses on the nursery. 

A fitting tribute to a beautiful woman.

MARION (Maid Marion) (English Rose. David Austin) 

'Maid Marion' at its best, is considered to be one of the most superbly formed flowers in the 

English Rose collection. 

The buds start as rounded cups with larger outer petals, enclosing numerous smaller petals 

within. These open to the most perfect rosette-shaped flowers in the form of a saucer; the outer 

petals forming a perfectly rounded rim. Their colour is a clear rose pink. 

The growth is relatively upright but quite bushy and compact. 

Initially the fragrance is a soft myrrh - as the flower ages it becomes more fruity with a distinct 

clove character. 

'Maid Marion' was the companion of the mythical hero 'Robin Hood' of Sherwood Forest. 

MARJORIE (Marjorie Fair) (Shrub Rose) 

This award winning excellent crimson shrub rose has small, single flowers with 5 petals each with 

a distinct white eye. They come in both small and very large clusters and flowers continuously 

throughout the season and is a real eye catcher. The profuse foliage is light green and semi glossy 

on a plant with a very dense and bushy habit that grows to moderate height. 

It makes a good hedge and is also useful among perennials and shrubs in a mixed border. 

If not pruned it can also be grown as a large specimen shrub. Scented.

MARY (White Mary Rose) (English Rose. David Austin) 

A lovely sport from 'Mary Rose' with all the virtues of its parent and similar in every way, except 

that the flowers are white. 

The overall effect is excellent, with a mass of flowers on a bushy shrub, continuing to bloom at 

regular intervals throughout the summer. 

A delicious Old Rose fragrance with hints of honey and almond blossom which becomes much 

stronger in warmer weather. 

Also known as "Winchester" "Winchester Cathedral" 

MAY (May Queen) (Rambling Rose) 

This rose bears short stemmed rosy pink flowers with a hint of lilac, which appear in great profusion 

in the earlier part of summer. 

They are full petalled, of medium size, rounded in form and open quartered with an old fashioned 

look and they give a beautiful show whatever the weather. 

Because the stems are flexible, the variety lends itself to many uses in the garden; it is especially 

suited for garlanding trellises, pergolas and pillars, to trail over low walls and fences, or to grow in a 

place where it can naturalize itself as a hummocky ground covering plant. 

'May Queen' is a vigorous and arching plant that extends a little further than the average climbing 

rose. 

The leaves are plentiful, glossy and dark, and create a handsome backcloth for the blooms. 


MEG (Climbing Rose) 

An outstandingly beautiful rose, and one of our favourite climbers. 

This rose gets its climbing growth from 'Paul's Lemon Pillar' and some of its lovely soft salmonapricot 

colour and red stamens from 'Mme Butterfly' 

The flowers have 10 petals which are very large for a single rose, up to 5in across. The blooms 

come in small and large clusters. The foliage is dark and glossy on a strong and upright plant. 

The repeat flowering is fair in summer but more profuse in autumn. 

It is a great rose for a pillar, a tripod or an arch, and is stunning growing against a brick wall and 

is popular in all climates. If spent blooms are not removed., a good crop of large round hips is 

produced in autumn. 

Can get a little black spot but can easily be kept under control. Scented.

MILLIE (Renaissance Rose) 

A new variety from the increasingly popular Renaissance Rose group.

Most of the Renaissance roses are highly scented and this latest one is no exception.

'Monique' is still a lovely, reliable garden rose after more than 50 years in commerce and

The very long, pointed buds are a clear rosy salmon colour, rather more rose than 

salmon. The huge blooms open to shapely, double flowers with 25 petals which are up to 

5ins (12cm) across and are extremely fragrant. 

It is a vigorous and upright bush with very few thorns that has pale green, medium sized 

foliage. 

This is an excellent rose for bedding and borders as it also has a good long flowering period. 

Is also one for the flower arrangers as it is a good rose for cutting as the blooms last well and fill the room with their

A rose of rather different character from other English Roses. 

The medium sized, soft pink flowers start as pretty, rather pointed buds, opening to loosely double

The growth is tall and airy, with dark, very nearly thornless stems. A dainty and extremely healthy 

rose for the back of the border and equally good when grown as a climber.

Flower production is excellent and the repeat blooms is quite rapid.

Makes a very useful companion plant in mixed borders as it never clashes or looks out of place. 

Has been around a long time and is still as popular as ever. 

If you want a rose with blooms at all times through the summer, this is the one.

A lovely new Hybrid Tea from USA with large blooms of clear rose pink. 

A tall statuesque rose with large frilly edged blooms, and very beautiful.

It does get a little black spot but can be kept under control with regular spraying.

This is what many people think of as the 'cabbage rose' a name first given to the Centifolias by

The fragrant flowers are very large, with as many as 50 petals and resemble peonies. 

There is an air of opulence in the casual way its 50 ruffled petals are disposed. 

It is a tall, upright, vigorous bush which needs plenty of room in the garden. 

An absolutely beautiful rose when in full bloom plus a good fragrance. 

PAUL (Paul Shirville) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

Lovely high centred blooms of orange/pink throughout the summer and into autumn. 

Can be grown in the garden or container, but the container will need protection from hard 

frosts. 

The semi-glossy leaves are large, purplish when young, maturing to dark green. 

Named for 'Paul Shirville' who was a gifted design engineer in the timber industry as a 'Thank 

You' present on his retirement. The recipient is probably the only individual in the world who 

has a credit card (from a Scottish bank) depicting 'his rose. 

A very desirable rose with a wonderful fragrance. which will grow in full sun but prefers a little 

shade. A very handsome rose and the colour changes through the season are quite amazing to watch.

A very rampant rambler with huge drooping clusters of double lilac small pink flowers which 

is an amazing sight in full bloom. 

An under rated rambler which should be more widely known as it is very easy to grow, is a 

great colour, and has a superb perfume. 

Very versatile as it is an ideal choice for scrambling up trees. It will cope with a North wall 

aspect and shade, plus poorer soils. 

Only summer flowering but well worth a place in any rose lovers garden for the few weeks of 

pure pleasure.

PAUL (Paul’s Lemon Pillar) (Climbing Rose) 

A good strong vigorous climber with massive blooms of clear lemon white. 

Although only summer flowering the blooms last a long time and are extremely beautiful. 

They hold their form well for a long time, and for many years this beautiful rose was a firm 

favourite with exhibitors. 

The branches are quite thick so needs to be attached firmly to a wall or structure. 

The large green leaves are rather sparse, but this old favourite can grow almost twice as big as 

the average climber. 

More sun, more flowers but this rose will also grow on a North wall and will cope with shade 

and poor soil. Good disease resistance with a sweet fragrance.

the leaves are almost obscured from view. 

Does repeat flower occasionally. 

Ample Mid green semi glossy foliage with average disease resistance. 

Was once the top climbing rose for many years. 

Very useful as it will also grow on a North wall and cope with shade and poorer soils. 

If it has any drawbacks it is that it does get a bit of mildew in dry sites, so they should be avoided.

An old China Rose of unknown origin but was re-introduced in 1960.

Flowers almost continually through the summer plus the bonus of a lovely perfume. 

Dark green foliage. 

Can also be grown as a small climber and is very useful for arches and pathways as it is almost 

thornless. 

A very versatile rose as it is shade tolerant and will cope with most soils. 

This old rose was re-discovered in 1960 and named for Countess Beckendorf by rosarian 

Humphey Brooke.

PENELOPE (Shrub Rose) 

This is a large, arching shrub with vigorous, but long relaxed branches, and as with most Hybrid 

Musks is pretty disease free and has very few problems. 

It flowers continuously through summer and into autumn and produces a lovely show of fat 

orange-pink hips in winter. The first main flush in late spring is truly wonderful . Although 

Penelope flowers beautifully right through the summer until the first frosts , the later summer 

blooms are not quite as prolific but are just as delightful ‘The trusses of double, medium sized 

blooms are of a delicate light pink and apricot shades fading to white with age. The overall loose form of the flowers 

give this bush an “old rose” type of charm. 

The abundant young foliage has a beautiful copper tint which turns to glossy dark green with age. 

Most Hybrid Musks are very fragrant and Penelope does not disappoint as the blooms have a strong heady musk fragrance 

, which is probably why Penelope is one of the favourites in this group of roses. 'Penelope' is very versatile 

and makes a fine specimen rose in the garden or an effective informal hedge. It can also be trained as a climber and 

is useful for growing over walls or fences or climbing pillars. It is also one of those obliging roses that blooms even in 

partial shade and is almost thornless.

Generally speaking, Hybrid Musks are very hardy, floriferous, easy on the eye and easy to maintain. 

Penelope was bred in the UK by the Rev. Joseph Pemberton (1852-1926) 

Pemberton was one of a long line of Anglican clergymen who were also horticulturists . He was responsible for creating 

many beautiful Hybrid Musks, many of which are still available today. He tended to name many of his roses 

after women, and Penelope, Felicia, Cornelia, Kathleen and Francesca are still around and as popular as ever. Other

PENNY (Penny Lane) (Climbing Rose) 

This is the first climber to be voted Rose Of The Year in the UK.

larger and more beautiful as they expand. The colour is pearly blush with light apricot in 

the depths of the fragrant flower. 'Penny Lane' blooms continuously through summer and

Lovely frilly blooms of soft pink to white which are similar to carnations.

Good healthy rich light green foliage and excellent disease resistance. 

Like most Rugosa’s it is very versatile as it makes a good hedge, tolerant of poor soils and will 

also grow in the shade.

PHYLISS (Phyliss Bide) (Rambling Rose) 

Small semi-double blooms of pink salmon and gold. 

One of the few ramblers available that will flower right through the season and is one of our 

favourite ramblers. 

The buds are like small cones and are carried in wide clusters on short stems. They open into 

fairly full rosette shaped blooms of modest size, in a mixture of salmon pink and yellow-gold 

shades. 

They are lightly scented and their neat distribution within the cluster and overall on the plant 

is a pleasure to see. 

It is a vigorous grower with lax arching stems, making a splendid rambler for fences, and 

arches etc. 

A delightful rose with good disease resistance and a pleasant perfume. 

A useful rambler as it will also cope on a North wall.

PIERRE (Mme Pierre Oger) (Shrub Rose) 

Its porcelain like blooms have made this one of the most popular of the Old Garden Roses. 

The blush, creamy white blooms, with a lilac reverse, are cupped and loose and have dappled petals, 

and an old fashioned. 

The colours intensify in the sun. 

It has a long blooming season that extends from spring to the first frost. 

Narrow, upright branches support the heavy delicately scented blooms. 

The abundant, light green leaves are oval, and pointed, and dark prickles line the stalks. 

This is an ideal candidate for the back of the border. 

Can be grown as a short climber with a little support. 

A good clean rose but plant in good rich soil to get the best results. 

Discovered by French nurseryman Pierre Oger and named for his wife. 

PIERRE (Pierre De Ronsard) (Climbing Rose) 

A perpetually flowering climbing rose of the 'old fashioned' style. Creamy white double blooms are 

suffused with shades of pink and fade to light green, with lavender pink at the base of the petals. 

Dark green glossy foliage. 

Needs a little time to become established, so you need to be patient but well worth the wait. 

Good disease resistance. 

Scented. 

Bred in France before 1985 and introduced during 1985. 

Named after Pierre De Ronsard the late French poet who was known by his generation as "The

This beautiful little rose is covered in bright cardinal pink flowers in clusters.

A heathy little rose with compact growth and glossy dark green, disease free foliage.

A cheerful little rose that will brighten up any garden or patio. 

Not very big so will be happy in the garden or a container.

Saucily named this lovely rose has masses of soft pink blooms in clusters. 

The clusters last for weeks and the repeat cycle is quite fast so it always seems to be in flower. 

In a good warm summer the branches are weighed down with the large number of blooms, so it 

sometimes needs support. 

Dead head regularly for the best show of flowers and keep the rose tidy. 

Small mid green foliage on a compact healthy bush. One of the best Floribundas around. 

Highly recommended. Good Fragrance. 

As far as we know this rose was named after a New Zealand policeman. 

One wonders what he got up to on his beat to gain such a name.

ROB (Rob Roy) (Floribunda Rose) 

Beautiful large crimson scarlet blooms which are high centred and elongated like small scale 

hybrid tea blooms. The large and impressive blooms can be 4ins (10cm) wide. 

They open somewhat loosely, in open clusters, maintaining a good clear colour tone and 

quite weatherproof 

Blooms in abundance with a good long flowering period throughout the summer until the 

first frost in the autumn. 

Dead head on a regular basis to promote further blooms and you will have colour all summer. 

Nice healthy glossy foliage which makes this lovely rose one of the best red floribundas 

around at the moment. A good colourful rose for cutting or buttonholes. 

Fragrant. 

Named after Robert Roy Macgregor the famous Scottish warrior. 1671-1734.

ROBERT (Robert Le Diable) (Shrub Rose) 

This rose bears fragrant flowers made up of many petals. 

When fully open, they reflex around the edge of the flowers to create a flat cushion effect. 

If the shape is unusual, the colour is even more so, for it varies within each bloom from deepest 

purple to softest lilac, mottled or splashed with bright red. 

In very dry weather, the colours intensify and deepen. 

It is a sizable, lax shrub, growing as broad at it is tall, which in good soil can be up to 4ft 

(1,2m) high. 

The arching thorny stems are covered with narrow, dark green leaves with good disease resistance. 

Few roses have such intensely coloured flowers which makes this attractive rose 

an asset to any garden. Summer flowering. 

Robert le diable (Robert the Devil) is an opera by Giacomo Meyerbeer, often regarded as the first grand opera. 

ROBERTA (English Rose. David Austin) 

Lovely paeony shaped blooms of blush pink adorn this large English shrub rose. 

After the first flush of flowers the bush continues to show colour through summer and autumn. 

Has a good covering of dark green semi gloss foliage. 

As with most English roses the fragrance is excellent with overtones of fruit, honey and carnation 

on a myrrh background.

With its pleasant shrub style, 'Robin Hood' is very free flowering and is also repeat

A new variety with an interesting name. 

Jolly Roger has plenty of attractive floribunda type blooms of peachy/pink and bronze colouring 

and is extremely attractive. Has a good long flowering period and plenty of blooms 

Grows to around 10ft - 15ft with healthy foliage and a pleasant perfume. 

A good colour for the flower arranger and for cutting. 

In the couple of years that we have had it, it has shown very good health and seems disease 

free. 

A lovely rose for arches, pergolas etc, but a cracker round the door if you have room. 

Unfortunately it is a little too big for a container. 

An unusual name and we are not sure if it is named after a person, or the flag used to identify a pirate ship. 

ROSALIE (Blue Rosalie) (Rambling Rose) 

A very popular vigorous rambler which is almost thornless. 

Pretty blooms of violet streaked with white fading to grey in large clusters and show prominent 

yellow stamens. 

A lovely sight in full bloom in the summer and flowers a little earlier than most ramblers. 

Pale green pointed foliage which is fairly disease free. 

Very useful as it will also grow on a North wall or up through a tree. 

This is the best known of the three similar violet-purple ramblers, the others being 'Rose Marie 

Viaud' and 'Violette'.

This superb award winning rose has been popular for quite a while now and is still as popular as 

ever.

resistance. A really lovely rose with dark leathery foliage which makes a real statement in the 

garden. Not a strong perfume but very agreeable.

The very large clusters of deep pink flowers on this variety are double, camellia shaped and 

medium in size. 

The huge clusters are often more than the branches can cope with and may need a little

Good long flowering period and always seem to be in flower right through to the autumn. 

When first introduced in 1954 it intrigued the rose world with its deep coppery foliage, 

which is now common in many varieties. 

It is a good bedding variety with vigorous bushy growth and a good health record. 

Can also make a good hedge. Well worth a place in any garden.

One of the few ramblers that repeat flower.

This award winning rose is one our favourite shrub roses. 

Exceptionally large trusses of beautiful buff to ivory blooms with silvery pink edging. 

This rose is easily recognisable by its spikes of five petalled flowers thickly clustered on lofty 

stems. There can be few lovelier sights on a calm summers day, especially when viewed against 

a dark background.

An old China Rose of unknown origin but was re-introduced in 1960. 

Shapely double globular blooms of pale blush pink overlaid with cerise-crimson, particularly on 

the outer petals. 

Flowers almost continually through the summer plus the bonus of a lovely perfume. 

Dark green foliage. Can also be grown as a small climber and is very useful for arches and 

pathways as it is almost thornless. 

A very versatile rose as it is shade tolerant and will cope with most soils. 

This old rose was re-discovered in 1960 and named for Countess Beckendorf by rosarian Humphey Brooke.

blooms throughout the summer and into autumn depending on the weather. 

A healthy variety which seems to have good disease resistance. 

Makes a real statement in the garden plus the bonus of a superb perfume.

SUSAN (Renaissance Rose) 

This beautiful rose is probably the most popular of the Renaissance group. 

It produces masses of attractive blooms of creamy white with a slight pink tinge and the many 

petalled blooms have a real old fashioned look. 

The flower production is very generous with plenty of blooms from early summer until well 

into the autumn and the first frosts. 

The spent blooms should be removed regularly to promote further flowering and to keep the 

plant tidy. 

In our opinion this is definitely one of the best of the Renaissance group. 

The whole of the group is highly recommended as we have yet to come across a poor specimen in the entire range. 

As with most of the range the perfume is outstanding and 'Susan' is no exception.

An award winning rose. 

'Susan Ann' has about 28 apricot petals, which form a very pleasing shape, and are carried in 

moderate sized clusters, on a tall and spreading bush. 

This lovely rose in well regarded for its good colour and vigour, and the fact that it does well in 

all climates and the blooms are pretty weatherproof and do not fade with age. 

The spent blooms should be removed to promote quicker re-blooming. 

The healthy foliage is glossy green and disease resistant.

During several years of trials for disease resistance, this little ground cover rose emerged with 

an unblemished record for good health. 

The flowers are small and single and are produced in great abundance in short stemmed clusters. 

They soon open out into flat, carmine pink flowers with pale centres, displaying attractive stamens, 

to resemble scores of cheerful yellow eyes, nestling against small. bright, shiny leaves. 

In flower all summer and well into autumn. 

An excellent rose from the County Ground Cover Range. 

Also knowns as 'Bright Carpet ' and 'Hertfordshire' 

SYLVIA (Hybrid Tea Rose)

SYLVIA (Lady Sylvia) (Climbing Rose) 

'Lady Sylvia' has been around for a while and is still as popular as ever. 

The creamy rose pink flowers are among the loveliest one could wish to see. 

The young petal tips part to reveal deeper tints of pink and a hint of gold at the heart of the bloom 

which, although it opens rather fast maintains a pleasing rounded outline until the petals fall. 

This is a rose much grown formerly by florists, and many brides have carried it in their bouquets. 

It is worth a place in the garden as a historic rose and is a great resource as a buttonhole or a cut 

flower. 

The plant blooms through the summer and autumn and grows quite vigorously to around 10ft. 

It is long lived and has sometimes survived in old garden long after other roses have disappeared. 

The leaves are dark green, and the foliage is a little sparse by today’s standards. 

Sweet scent. Highly Recommended. 

TAM (Tam O’ Shanter) (English Rose. David Austin) 

One of the essential characteristics of the English Roses is that they differ widely between one 

variety and another. This adds greatly to the pleasure we gain from them. Tam O'Shanter is so 

different that we hardly know in which group to place it. 

Nonetheless, its flowers are in fact typical of an English Rose of the Old Rose group. 

The growth however is long and gracefully arching; the flowers opening all along their length, 

rather as we might get on a Species Rose. 

The individual blooms are of typical Old Rose formation, being of rosette shape. The colour is 

a deep cerise pink that takes on a slightly mauve shade when the flower is fully open. 

There is a light fruity fragrance. 

This is a very healthy rose that would look very well in an informal garden or as part of a mixed border. 

It was named to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robbie Burns. Tam O'Shanter is the hero of one 

of his best known poems, in which he has a lucky escape from the witches having stayed too long at the inn after market 

day. 

TESS (Tess Of The D’Urbervilles) (English Rose. David Austin) 

Large fragrant flowers of bright crimson colouring. 

They are of a nice, deeply cupped shape in the early stages; the petals turning back to give a less 

formal but still attractive flower. Healthy dark green foliage. It has a lovely Old Rose fragrance. 

It can also be grown as a short climber and will probably reach 8 or 9ft. 

Very useful as it can also tolerate a North wall situation. 

Named after the character from Thomas Hardy's novel.

THELMA (Rambling Rose) 

An interesting old rambler which has been around for a long time and is now quite hard to 

find. 

This rose has flowers of an unusual colour for a rambler. They are coral-pink suffused with 

deep carmine with a mass of stamens in the centre, semi-double and borne in small to medium 

sized clusters. 

The individual flowers are quite large for a rambler and are often 3ins (8cm) wide. 

The blooms are an exquisite shape especially when fully open. 

It is only summer flowering with occasional blooms later in the season. 

The flowering season lasts a little longer than other ramblers and the blooms are unnafected by the weather. 

Not a powerful perfume but very pleasant. 

A healthy rambler which is reliably disease resistant and almost thornless. 

Bred by Rose breeder Walter Easlea in the UK 1927 and named after his grand daughter who lives in New Zealand. 

TWIGGY (Shrub Rose) 

An English icon such as Twiggy deserves a suitably timeless rose, which is indeed a challenge; 

but ‘Twiggy’s Rose’ does everything, then a bit more, to rise to the occasion. 

‘Twiggy’s Rose’ is magnificently bushy, immaculate in its style of growth. Flowering in elegant 

clusters begins in early June, and is practically continual until the start of winter. 

Added to that, ‘Twiggy’s Rose’ is as pretty as a picture, and has a pleasing scent into the bargain. 

It’s a ‘must’ for general planting in beds, groups and hedges; excellent for mixing in summer 

borders; and delightful to cut for the vase. 

VALENTINE (Valentine Heart) (Floribunda Rose) 

The blooms of this charming rose cover a wide range of colours. The buds are pale scarlet, opening 

to blush pink on the inside of the petals, and then go through various shades of rosy lilac and 

pink. 

Spent blooms should be removed regularly to promote further blooms and to keep the bush tidy. 

A good continuity of blooms through to autumn. A nice healthy rose with good disease resistance. 

Pleasing fragrance.

VALENTINE (My Valentine) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

Crimson hybrid tea roses of quality are a rarity these days, so its good to have this addition. 

A strong clean grower producing classically formed large blooms on strong stems. 

Makes a good cut flower and has a pleasant fragrance. 

Will last for many years in the garden, and is far better value than a bunch of cut florist roses 

which will only last for a few days. Give this beautiful rose as a gift to a loved one and put the

VICTORIA (Climbing Rose) 

A rare and unusual rose which is not widely grown these days which is a great shame as it is 

very beautiful. 

The bloom colour is mainly pink with a flush of apricot in the centre. 

However depending on the weather it can produce flowers of creamy white, or even yellow. 

The blooms are very large and are produced throughout the season with the bonus of a heady 

tea fragrance. 

Although it is quite hardy it requires a sheltered, sunny position to be seen at its best. 

Stocks are always a little short, so order early to avoid disappointment. 

Also known as the 'Magnolia Rose' and ‘Devoniensis’ 

VICTORIA (La Reine Victoria) (Shrub Rose) 

'La Reine Victoria' displays rich pink globular blooms that have a tint of mauve in the 

pink. 

They are very double and have up to 40 silky textured petals, and cupped. 

It flowers right through the season but the spring flush is particularly profuse. In 

autumn, the flowers are produced on very long stems. The growth is strong and up- 


right with plentiful , close jointed matt pale green foliage.

Plant at the back of the border as it may need a bit of support to avoid damage in high winds. A very beautiful rose 

that looks its best in an old style cottage garden.

VIOLETTE (Rambling Rose) 

This lovely old rambler is a wonderfully free growing rose and is one of our favourite ramblers. 

The flowers have two rows of deep violet petals that are quite showy and are produced in 

clusters. 

The small flowers appear abundantly in the first flush of bloom but does not flower again, 

as it concentrates on its growth for the next year. 

It is a healthy vigorous grower and can put on 10-15ft of growth in its first season. 

Once established the long canes should be trained horizontally for the best quality blooms 

and the most pleasing affect. 

Healthy light green foliage, and very few thorns. 

A great rose for trellis work or training on walls. 

A very attractive rose with a pleasant scent. Bred in France. 1921. 

WALTER (Uncle Walter) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

The flowers of this variety are crimson scarlet, high centred and fairly large, with about 30 wide 

petals, and open rather loosely on very tall stems. 

They are often carried in open clusters, and the overall effect is more like a big shrub than a 

large flowered bush. 

Flowers well and the continuity of bloom is maintained through summer and autumn. 

'Uncle Walter' needs carefully placing or it will dominate its neighbours; towards the back of a 

border is a suitable place, or it could be treated as a short climber and grown on a support. 

It grows very vigorously with a tall, free branching habit to well above average height. 

The leaves are large, crimson when young, then maturing to bronze green, and plentiful. 

A very healthy rose with a pleasant perfume. 

The breeder Sam McGredy named this rose after his uncle, Walter Johnston, who looked after the nursery during his 

infancy.

WALTER (Sir Walter Raleigh) (English Rose. David Austin) 

Rich crimson pink blooms when fully open show golden stamens in the centre. 

The elegant blooms are borne singly with a good repeat flowering cycle. 

Dark green semi-glossy foliage which has good disease resistance. 

The growth is strong and bushy with large leaves in proportion with the flowers. 

Rather like a Tree Peony. 

Superb Fragrance. 

Named to commemorate the founding if the first English speaking colony in America and the English explorer and 

politician (1554- 1618)

WENDY (Patio Rose) 

Lovely white blooms with tinges of green and mauve plus attractive golden stamens. 

Good glossy foliage make this a very popular little rose. 

An extremely pretty rose which flowers right through the season until the first frosts. 

Dead head regularly to promote speedy re blooming. 

Looks super en masse in the garden and a good rose for a container. 

Makes a lovely little gift. 

Bred by Pedro Dot. Spain. Also known as 'For You' 

WENDY (Wendy Cussons) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 

'Wendy Cussons' bears fully double, cerise splashed with scarlet blooms which are evenly distributed over the whole 

plant and very attractive. 

They are high centred and large, with 30 petals, and the foliage is glossy and dark on a well 

branched plant. 

Health and vigour are strong points of the bush, and in warmer climates if can grow above expectations. 

It is an ideal plant in cool areas with climates that hinder vigorous growth and promote the 

full intensity of the beautiful flowers. Flowers all summer and into autumn providing the 

weather allows. 

A lovely and popular rose which is also very highly perfumed.

Wendy Cussons is the daughter in law of Alexander Tom Cussons who was the Chairman of Cussons Sons & Co, 

maker of the brand Cussons Imperial Leather Soap and other toiletries. 

WIFE (My Darling Wife) (Floribunda Rose) 

A stunning new floribunda rose with an abundance of blooms throughout the season. 

The blooms come in clusters and are a lovely shade of soft shell pink with a hint of cream. 

Will grow in the garden or container and is very easy to look after. 

Just water and feed well, dead head on a regular basis and this stunner will provide you with 

masses of colour right through to the autumn. 

Good disease resistance and a lovely sweet perfume. 

Something a little different with a lovely title. 

WILHELM (Shrub Rose) 

A lovely Hybrid Musk with masses of dark red blooms in flushes throughout the season. 

A bushy plant that can also be grown as a climber, has dense large glossy foliage. 

A very attractive rose with a pleasant honey fragrance. 

Repeats well through the summer and the autumn show is often quite spectacular. 

Also makes a very attractive and fragrant hedge. 

Bred in Germany in 1934 and introduced to the UK in 1944.

WILHEMENA (Queen Wilhemena) (Floribunda Rose) 

Beautiful floriferous golden amber blooms adorn this new floribunda. 

An early flowering variety . 

Semi glossy medium green foliage and flowers throughout the summer. 

Deadhead regularly and lightly prune in the spring. 

Scented. 

Bred in the USA.

WILLIAM (Royal William) (Hybrid Tea Rose) 



The large blooms have 35 petals and repeat well right through the summer and into autumn. 


A strong healthy and handsome rose and the perfect rose for cutting as the blooms last well 

in water. Highly recommended. Fragrant.

WILLIAM (William Lobb) (Shrub Rose) 

Deservedly one of the most popular Moss Roses 'William Lobb' grows vigorously up to 

8ft (2.5m). 

Its long, firm stems, covered in greyish brown moss, have many stout thorns and are 

overlaid dark grey-green, medium sized and coarse, well serrated foliage. 

The buds have a lot of soft, mid to dark green moss, 

The semi-double large flowers are almost ragged in structure but charming nevertheless, 

especially when fully open when displaying the centres of golden yellow stamens 

that contrast so beautifully with the purplish petals which have a lavender pink reverse. 

Deep down near the base, each petal is flecked with white. 

There is a strong scent and the flowers appear in mid summer in great profusion. 

It is useful as both a tall shrub or small climber, on walls trellises and arches, but will need a little support. 

Named after the Cornish plant collector. 1809-1863. For further details see Wikipedea.

WILLIAM (William Morris) (English Rose. David Austin) 

A good strong tall and elegant rose with outstanding pink-apricot blooms. 

A superb rose for the back of the border or makes a cracking specimen on its own. 

As with all this variety the perfume is always a delight. 

(Can also be grown as a short climber) 

William Morris (1834-96) was a central figure of the Pre-Raphaelite movement. 

WILLIAM (William Shakespeare 200) (English Rose. David Austin) 

A rose with exquisite blooms of the richest velvety crimson, gradually to an equally rich purple. 

Deeply cupped at first, the flower soon opens out to a shallow quartered cup. 

The growth is neat and upright each stem bearing a number of flowers. 

This rose has the strong, Old Rose fragrance that we expect, but do not always find. in deep red 

roses. 

An outstanding English Rose with excellent disease resistance. 

Named after William Shakespeare who has been voted 'Man Of The Millennium' 

YVONNE (Yvonne Rabier) Shrub Rose) 

A charming little shrub rose that always seems to be in flower. Masses of small double 

ivory white blooms with a hint of lemon and pink. The blooms are extremely weatherproof 

and hold their own whatever the weather throws at them. An award winning rose 

with delightful, healthy shiny foliage with good disease resistance. 

Will grow anywhere, but for the best flower show give it a cosy warm spot in the garden. 

It is not very big for a shrub rose, so can be grown quite successfully in a container, or 

can be a very attractive low hedge. Scented.
