Activity description

AFS is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world. The volunteer will contribute to achieving this by sharing more intercultural understanding and global competences through courses and workshops. 1. Educator for intercultural learning in schools and youth activities: Contacting schools for promotion & practical arrangements, giving workshops, follow-up of online language learning tools, be involved in international summer camps. 2. Building Global Competences in the adult exchange market: The volunteer will be trained to become Qualified Facilitator (QF). (S)he will organise and facilitate reflection sesssions & live trainings, coordinate the pool of GCC Qualified Facilitators and local volunteers, be in touch with exchange participants following the GCC.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

- international travel to & from Belgium - local public transport between accommodation and workplace and for activities related to work (e.g. school visits) - accommodation in host family (meals provided by host family) OR rented room on the private market (with a monthly allowance)

Training during the activity

- Pre-and post orientation, provided by the supporting organisation - On Arrival and Mid-Term Orientation, provided by the Flemish National Agency - Intensive Training to become Qualified Facilitator for the GCC - Dutch language course - Task-related training at the workplace by professional staff

Participant profile

● Strong level of English, French and/or Dutch ● Strong motivation to learn Dutch ● Affinity with the target groups: high school students and young adults ● Interested in intercultural learning and global competences ● Pedagogical and didactical skills ● Ability to speak in front of groups ● Hands-on mentality ● Social, enthusiastic and friendly
