kuruluşun tanımı

For more than 38 years, the Ecole de Cirque de Bruxelles (ECB) has empirically built its own know-how. This construction was done through teamwork, reflection and a permanent search. The focus is on the word "school". A school that promotes critical thinking, autonomy and responsibility. A school that builds self-confidence and the development of the whole person. The ECB considers that circus arts, beyond the mind-soul and skills-creativity conciliation, can be used as a tool for education, pedagogy and integration. In that framework, circus lessons are provided for children, adolescents, adults and families, whether they are physically and/or mentally challenged or not, and from disadvantaged or more privileged neighborhoods.

The focus is on six values to support our educational project:
• Creativity • Apprenticeship • Pleasure • Commitment • Fulfillment • Respect

AMATEUR TRAININGS

1. The Circus Arts Academy has been welcoming hundreds of children, teenagers and adults for more than 30 years.
Tens of thousands of children, teenagers and adults have discovered and practice each week some of the 60 different lessons of the Circus Arts academy supervised by the team of the ECBru.

Our lessons:
Multicircus - Acrobatics - Juggling - Diabolo - Trapeze - Aerial Silk - Monocycle - Tightrope walking - Chinese pole - Dance - Family Circus

2. The Creation Workshops, supervise the most passionate. Their numbers and performances, built with their artist trainers are presented at different times throughout the year and they are thought for children, teenagers and adults. The global learning of circus techniques is based on a creative, playful, non-competitive, imaginative approach for children between 2 and half years old and the 6th grade. As early as adolescence, learning is specific both on circus techniques, and on creativity and roleplaying in front of an audience.

3. Our holiday camps host each year more than a thousand children.

4. Adapted circus is another speciality of our school. It has hosted more than a hundred different people each week for more than 25 years. The ECBru uses circus arts as a development method of the people with special needs. The project is focusing on young people or adults with mental or physical special abilities. Moreover, each week 15 groups of about 12 young people and adults with special needs are attending lessons to develop their physical, creative and relational potential.

5. The Social Circus project pays particular attention to children and young people in close neighborhoods to the Brussels Canal Zone with free lessons opened for everyone to create a social integration, free workshops and the creation of a festival in the Canal Zone District.

PROFESSIONAL TRAININGS

1. The Pedagogical training has a program, unique in its way, to become a Trainer in Circus Arts within twelve months. The aim is to transmit a methodological, educational and creative approach of the Circus Arts.

2. Circus Arts Assistant Course
Being a Circus Arts Assistant is a role in which you will assist before, during and after the course, in the supervision of the activity and the group. We organise a training for youngsters who want to become circus assistants.

3. Training in Adapted Circus
It is an extension of the pedagogical training. At the end of this training, people are able to offer apprenticeships in Circus Arts at persons with special abilities.

4. Circus Arts Facilitator Training.
In partnership with la Fédécirque (federation of circus schools in Belgium), we are providing a programme to train circus practitioners in the art of delivering circus. At the end of that training, they will be capable of conveying the basics of circus art using creativity while respecting the development and blossoming of the participants. It is a 120h training.

EUROPEAN FUNAMBULISM NETWORK

The ECBru has created, with the French Funambule, Denis Josselin, in 2010 the "European Funambulism Network" (EFN). Our tightrope walkers give every year workshops and organise challenges like the crossing of the canal of Brussels (twice a year), a world record of funambulism, the crossing of lakes or rivers everywhere in Belgium.

INITIATIONS, BIRTHDAYS PARTIES AND EVENTS

The ECBru offers one-time initiations to circus practices to public events, private organisations and schools.
It also hosts birthday parties every Sunday, where children can discover and enjoy circus activities supervised by qualified teachers.
Moreover, it proposes private events for enterprises, « family days » and « team buildings » both at the school or somewhere else.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION PROJECT

These projects are on different levels: youth exchanges, training for trainers, and large-scale projects. As a co-founder of the European Youth and Social Circus Network - Caravan, ECBru has coordinated successfully several European projects.
