Authorities in Pennsylvania are advising residents to be on the lookout for fake parking tickets.

The Easton Police Department on Thursday said "counterfeit parking tickets have emerged within the city" recently.

These fake 'Parking Violations' lack any city details or specific payment information," the department noted in a news release. "The fine print also states they are 'for entertainment purposes only.' Authentic city parking tickets will prominently display official City of Easton information."

The release included an image of a fake ticket, showing a $100 fine for a supposed non-moving violation. Instructions on the counterfeit ticket urged the so-called offender to pay the fine at city hall or by mailing the violation notice to the provided address -- but no address was shown.

Authorities said real ticket payments can only be made at the police station or online.

If you have any doubts about the legitimacy of a ticket, we encourage you to reach out to Easton Parking Enforcement at 610-250-6642," police noted.

Police said more information about legitimate parking tickets and to parking in the city can be found online at easton-pa.com.
