Welcome to Garchen Meditation Centre Society in Vancouver

Whether you are new to the Buddhist way of thought and seeking a path that can lead to less suffering in your life and the world, or if you are an experienced practitioner you will find our sangha warm, welcoming and supportive of where ever you are on your journey.

In 2015 a devoted group of Dharma Students in Vancouver Canada requested Khenpo Samdup Rinpoche to open a new centre. Today the centre is known as the Garchen Meditation Centre Society. A name bestowed by H.E. Garchen Rinpoche upon his recent visit to Vancouver in 2019. Students began the centre meeting regularly to practice in a Sangha member’s home. Khenpo Samdup Rinpoche’s unique teachings style, blending the cultures of the east and the west attracted many students. Now they also hold larger teaching events in public venues. They not only practice regularly and host teachings, but also participate in charitable events in the community, such as feeding the homeless in Canada’s poorest neighbourhood.

Our organization is firmly based on loving kindness and intrinsic awareness by sharing the teachings of the Buddha in the Drikung Kagyu Lineage. We receive guidance under the direction of H.E. Garchen Rinpoche and Venerable Khenpo Samdup Rinpoche.

MISSION

The Garchen Meditation Center is an organization devoted to preserving and facilitating causes of happiness and peace by sharing teachings of the Buddha. We provide regular retreats, meditation, public talks, teachings and study programs in Vancouver, BC and via social media platforms to support the discovery and flourishing of our happiness, compassion and wisdom.
